A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hello, my air conditioner control lights go crazy sometimes, for example the defroster light comes on when I brake . Will resetting the computer fix this? And if not, what does it do?

Thanks.

It comes on EVERY time you brake? I would try looking at the service manual for a wiring diagram and then go from there: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM.

How old is the car? Sounds like something a warranty should take care of for you.

Doubt it's a computer issue, but simply unhooking the battery overnight should reset the computer.

My 2008 Spec V does something similar. Every time I switch the air flow selection knob from "foot/defrost" to anything, it actually turns on the A/C. I don't know what is causing it. It's just dinged 25k miles and I'm taking it in after the new year for a check-up anyhow. Gotta get everything out of this warranty that I can!

It's a 2007. It's not annoying, just weird and it doesn't come every time I hit the brakes. Anyway, what is resetting the computer for?

Don't mention that to the delaer when you take it in - they will just point to the following section in the owner's manual.

When the air flow control is turned to any position otherthan defrost or feet/defrost the A/C light will illuminate(the A/C will continue operating) and can beturned off using the A/C button. This dehumidifiesthe air which helps defog the windshield. The recirc. mode automatically turns off, allowingoutside air to be drawn into the passenger compartmentto further improve the defogging performance.

Better to hear RTFM here than at the dealer's -only give them things that they can really fix.

And don't forget that it is recommended to run your A/C anyway, once a month, for 10 minutes, to keep the seals in good shape.Might be hard to do in MN. in the depth of winter - but could save an A/C problem down the road.

I don't think resetting the computer will fix that - sounds like a wiring problem. Did you have any work done on your car that would not be considered normal maintenance? Any additions - radio, spoiler, lights - something that required electrical work?

Sad thing is I did RTFM. Maybe I should get my eyes checked. Thanks for the knowledge, and it is much better to hear it here in a faceless setting... than to have the mechanic give me that look. SIGH.

The car had some electrical work done but I can't reclaim because I bought it used. As I said before, it's not annoying, just thought it could be repaired easily
