I own a 2008 Nissan Versa SL. I had my tires rotated for the first time today at CarX. They charged me $50 to reset the censor after rotating the tires. They explained to me that this is required otherwise the censors get confused. I'll call the dealer and see what they have to say about that. Just seems ludicrous that the rotation cost $30 and the censor reset cost $50. Has anyone else had to deal with this issue?

If the tire pressure light comes on, you have to fill them to the manufacturers specifications not sure what psi then drive over 30mph for a period of time and they will go off. Thats what i read in the owners manual. Hope that helps

I've have my Versa's tires rotated many times and never heard anything about resetting the TPMS sensors. No extra charges, no problems with with the sensors...

The censor wasn't reset because of the light being on or anything. The guy just said that once the tires are rotated, the censors have to be reset. He showed me a diagram of the car and explained that the model has censors in each wheel, and they all had to be reset individually. That's why it cost so much.

Car-X is a franchise, but maybe the folks in charge would like to know what's being done in their name. Good luck!

it takes about 10 sec per tire to reset....that is a BS charge especially if you paid to have your tires rotated.....they should not charge you to reset them

B.S.!!!! I have had to change my tires few times already, one of the times the had to rotate the tires, it did not have one of the sensors for about a week cuz it was an idiot the one that replace the tires, when I put the sensor back (ithe front tire instead of rear where it originally was), after few miles at I think 30mph it turned off!!!!!

Hope it helps

I have rotated my tires myself three times now. There is nothing to reset. Total BS about the $50 charge.

Do this in the driveway and it is free. When the tires are off the car, inspect them carefully for small nails. While you are at it, pull the spare tire out and check the pressure. It will usually need to aired up a little.

Does this work on the Versa? Seems like a cheap way to rid yourself of some dealer/shop dependance.

Well, I talked to the dealer. Apparently they do it for free, it's included in the tire rotation charge. He said that resetting the censor is not even necessary, just so the computer knows which tire has an issue (flat, low PSI, etc.). I mean, one can get out of the car and confirm that. I called CarX about that, the guy said that they called around before setting that price, and that they set their price below Ford and other dealers that they checked. The owner might lower the price after our conversation, but he can't give me a refund me because the service was provide and that's their rate. Maybe next time it'll be cheaper than the dealer. I said 'there isn’t going to be a next time'.

Thanks for your help guys.

best answer you can give. stick to it . . . write a letter to them and tell them again, and write head office.

I know . . . it takes time (five minutes and a coupla stamps) . . . but do it!

Sensor NOT censor!!!

Censor = to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable

Sensor = a device that responds to a physical stimulus (as heat, light, sound, pressure, magnetism, or a particular motion) and transmits a resulting impulse (as for measurement or operating a control);

Sorry.....

Was just getting ready to post the same when I saw yours. Had not seen that misuse before.

i work at merchant tire & have rotated many w/ tpms including my versa&wifes xterra, you got ripped off, they dont need to "reset" tpms when rotating tires & even when replacing tires the tpms resets itself w/correct air pressure. I would report them to the bbb because how many other peopel have they ripped off having to "RESET" tmps. i would report them to every media possible.
