I'll never forget Ford's previous attempt at gaining customers... this whole "Ford Trade-Up" thing where they lent Ford vehicles to people who just bought new cars from other manufacturers. For instance, they gave a $40,000 Ford to a guy who just bought... like... a Kia Rio, and asked him later if he could trade the Kia for the Ford, and he proclaimed he would. At the end, they interviewed everyone to find out what they liked about the Fords, and they all said the same thing; "Nice paint" or "I love the sunroof."

Yeah I agree. Not many Fords I like anymore. There all the same, just different badging.Too bad Ford doesn't bring their Aussie versions here (Falcon, etc). I was @ the Calgary Auto show on last Sun. I am more of a fan of the rear-drive muscle car of NEW. I pity the guy who paid a $ million for a '71 Hemi ' Cuda converible. I'd rather pay for a new Challenger... Or the new Pontiac G8 (an Aussie GM Holden). Anyhow, hopefully the repair is quick!

I work were we do the finally assembly of the engine for ford edge like add the trans, a/c compressor, alternator, drive shafts and so on...seeing some of the quality controls they have in place i would be nervious about buying a Edge and hearing stories about what goes on at the plant which build the edge long story short I get a discount for Ford and Mazda cars and I still bought my v in instead.

Really? Wow, I thought people who work for car companies are required to buy the same products! LOL. Yeah, I looked around. I have had Datsuns in the past. I forgot about my 1988 Nissan "hardbody" pick-up I had some years back too. This time I ended up buying the Versa. It's the biggest & best bang for the buck. Not many big cars can give you the room front & back like the Versa. I am going on my 1st road trip, it's only got 6200 km (3800 miles). Let's see the fuel economy. Although I am heading west over the Rockies to the Okanagan in B.C.Cheers.
