I am replacing the shifter boot in my 95 240. Seems simple, but I haven't been able to unscrew the shifter ball! I don't want to force it....what is the right way to do it?(Thanks guys for all your help)

yup.........I had the same problem but I just forced it off. Some people use vice grips (towel covering the shifter knob) and just try it that way or even a plumbers wrench. Good Luck!

I used one of the plumbing tool.. it will grip on to that succker like a lion on a goats neck. but I did it without any towels because I didn't care if i ripped the rubber on the stock one.. and which it did!!

as much as you dont want to force it, FORCE IT. it will give and scream out your name. show it who's boss. i used the two-handed twistaroo on it. worked fine.. but took some muscle

yea i got mad and used a saw-zaw and cut the damn thing off. i then relized that it was threaded. it didnt matter though because i installed a short shifter.
