Removing exhaust manifold heatshield

About 10 or 12 months ago I removed my heat shield on the exhaust manifold, I made a post about it and a few people said it wasnt a good idea because it could get too hot and melt things. Anyway, it has been off for about a year and absolutly no problems, Its even made a couple of ten hour trips up and down california in the middle of summer, so it doesnt get a lot hotter than that. Just wanted to update if anyone was considering removing it, the thing actually weighs quite a bit and I think it looks cleaner without it
