I tried to search including the archives and couldn't find anything so I am writing here. I recently read a letter in a popular car mag that involved a 350z that was bogging down on takeoff. The guy at the mag said to remove the tail light fuse as well as turning off the VDC. Will this help at all on the 2003 g35 sedan? Thanks.

Amazing how the chimps can string words together seemingly at random, isn't it?Modern cars are sensitive to grounding issues, but I don't see how even that would make removing fuses cure a poor-running condition. No, this isn't the Next Hot Tip.There's a reason car writers do that for a living. Many are too drastically stupid to hold any other job.

Many are failed advertising copy writers. If you can't presuade the masses with florid copy, then BS them with false facts.

Did the letter try, at all, to justify that theory?

The article actually had to deal with doing a burnout and launching the car. The writer says that the fuse to the tail lights needs to be disconnected to completely turn off the traction control. You can find the letter and response that I'm talking about in the May 07 issue of "inport tuner" on page 23. I didn't want to put the exact name but I'm sure you all know what mag I'm talking about. Thanks for the responses.

All of this makes more sense after reading your first post for comprehension! At first glance I thought this was just about the electrical load from the tail lights.

I think it's possible, but not confirmed, that turning the VDC off only with the switch - might still leave some of the nanny systems active. Might be interesting to research. A good place to start would be to look at the FSM (www.phatg20.net) to see what is on the tail light circuit besides tail lights.

Ah. Not something I'd be calling "performance", but okay.Quote » The writer says that the fuse to the tail lights needs to be disconnected to completely turn off the traction control.[/quote]Rather a different street, there. Before Ford jellybeaned the Crown Vic, we found out that losing the brake light fuse would make it impossible to take the car out of Park- the interlock wouldn't let go. Gangs of yuks for the coppers with that one
