Hello All

I have a few questions about remote start for my G35x.

I have asked some of the company's around me who do it, but I would like some input from users here. I found an article about an excellent remote start install on another forum, but it didn't mention using the factory key fob.

Questions:
1. Can you use the factory keyfob to start the car?
2. What do you do when you get in the car? I was told by one installer that once you unlocked the door the car would die and you had to restart it with the button. Sounds like a piece of crap install to me. Not something I want.
3. How is the car protected while it is running?

I want a system that will automatically recognize that I have gotten into the car, then enable everything like normal and go. I do not want a system that i have to turn the car off and back on, etc.

i looked into a remote start for my last two Gs and i have a remote start on my 1996 jeep. On my jeep its very easy cause there is no engine immobilizer. Just normal wiring to the ignition, door locks, and door monitors/interior lights.

The sequence for my jeep is, hold start button on fob, doors lock, and car starts (only stays on 15 mins), use fob to unlock doors, get in, and insert key and turn to "ON" position. If the key is not inserted and turned to on position, as soon as you hit the brake pedal the car turns off, if doors are unlocked without fob, the car turns off.

now with the G... you have to bypass the car's stock security system and engine immobilizer (coded RF key) to start the car. there are so called "bypass modules" that are a seperate cost to the remote start system. So inorder to have remote start on a G you might have to give up the car's stock security potection and incurr the extra cost of a bypass module. that makes getting a remote start installed almost $1000, id rather get a stillen exhaust LOL.

But if you really want it, id see if your local dealer can install or recommend an installer becuase its not the run of a mill remote start installation with the G or any other car that uses a coded RF key. Ive read a couple horror stories of G remote start installs that stopped the car from starting normally as well as other wiring issues...

I'd personally recommend using that money for something else on the G...
