What does one have to do to get a remote keyless entry for and XE model with out it. I just bought this and don't know if it had one or how to know if it did. And if not how to add it. Aftermarket?

check for a security light some where around the steering wheel. I believe its on the drivers side of the wheel on the pathfinder. If it has a light that flashes when the doors are closed and the key is out of the ignition. If it has that light it has keyless entry. You can test to see if it has an alarm to by rolling your window down closing all the doors ,hatch ,and hood, use the key to lock the drivers door and watch that light it should go solid. after a min or so the light will begin to flash in slow pulses. When it does reachin and unlock the door by the lock lever not the electric switch and open the door the alarm wil sound. use the key to unlock the door it will deactivate the alarm.

It does have a security light and it works. I will go by a Nissan Dealer to see if they can hook me up with a remote keyless entry.

Dad was never a mechanic. He is more into sales like me. I dabbled in engine repair, well I can rebuild a rochester quadrajet carb so I am not that bad.

65 SeaKing...hmm, never saw one in 10 years front line sales. Might be time to seek a Johnson or Mercury Outboard. Old boat parts and knowledge are hard to find.

Yes, tell your kids computers are the way to go. Programming takes a very smart person. I mean really genius level almost. I would tell them to learn to repair hardware or learn networking. Those areas don't pay as well but the demand for them is incredible. I fell into this. Some years you can top six figures pretty easy. The last few have been hard luck however. The dot com shakeout and 9/11 really messed with the USA bad. I stuck it out, it will come back, and has somewhat already. Rock on USA, Rock on!

I am going to drive this Pathfinder back to sucess! I like the name for that is what it stands for to me.

Thanks man!:ylsuper

check to see if the alarm works to as i mentioned.

About the boat. I have seem to find that to be the genral concensus when I cal boat shops. I have finally found one that can get me parts for it but only certain ones. I had to have the old starter rebuilt by an electric motor rebuilder shop(non automotive type buisness) The only reason I am trying to get the old motor up and running is for nostalga(sp?) purposes. The boat the trailer and the motor are all original from 1965. And I did have the motor running once till the fly wheel spun on the shaft. I have since got it lined back up but can not get good spark again. My problem here is I can not find a shop willing to even look at a boat that old.

They don't have any mechanic who knows how to fix it. That baby is 40 years old. Plus they know parts are impossible to find. You have to have a few old ones laying about to rob parts from. Then even the parts that you need will be worn out on the parts motor too.

Your spark problem is probably the flywheel. Some had the stator on the wheel. It is similar in function to a coil and it is what controls the fire. Pretty sure it is a part of the flywheel. Once that goes you have to find a replacement....

Forget nostalgia. You want a motor that will carry you out, and mostly important one that will carry you back in!

I got this from RemoteKeylessEntry.com, where I ordered a replacement unit. This truck went thru and action in 2000 and I bet the auction house or one of it's employee sold the remotes to a place like them. They buy them from anyone...

Enjoy:

From inside the vehicle, close and lock your doors with the driver power door lock switch, then insert and remove the key from the ignition 6x within 10 seconds...if the hazard lights flash afterwards, then it is equipped with RKE. You can also call a local Nissan dealer and ask for the parts department, who can check for you based on the vin number.

The only place to get your remote is at Ebay! I got one for $30 with shipping and Pay Pal warranty! Forget the webstores selling them. Ebay is your best bet!
