ok, im pissed!! i was out in my 240 tonight driving around w my girlfriend on this road that everybody cruises on and races. well i was sitting at a light and im surrounded by civics and caviliers all reving their engines. then a cop goes by and looks at them all. well they all get to the end of the road and turn around. the cavilier pulls out on the road and i pull out behind him and floored it and shifted to 2nd and passed him. well 30sec later theres a cop behind me. so he pulls me over and gives me a ticket for reckless driving. he was the biggest **** about it too. i didnt even spin my tires or go over the speed limit. he said i was lucky he wasnt going to take me to jail. he was like you and your buddies(which i dont know who they were) were all reving your engines and stuff. he said if he would have gotten them he would of gave us a speed racing ticket or somthing. well i have a court date in a couple wks. i heard that reckless driving is like 8 pts. well im screwed because my insurance cant go up any more, because its already too high. i heard about defensive driving but i dont think i can do that for this. this is my first real ticket. i dont know what to do.

Hmm... I would feel sorry for you but this is how I see it.

a. you were in an area known for street racingb. you were amidst a group of loud cars c. you exhibited accelerationd. you did it while passing one of these loud cars

Now... the cop sees this. You've already fallen under the street racing condition, which is wreckless endangerment. Basically you screwed up. When you see police and they notice you in a group you dont do something like this. As far as the cop goes, can you imagine why he's a dicck? Pulls over punks in civics and cavaliers all day and gets their attitude. I dont blame him. In his eyes there is no way he can tell the difference between you and those punks. So own up and go pay your dues. Even if you dont spin your tires its an exhibition of acceleration.

Go to the judge and explain your case... ask for defensive driving first. If denied ask for deferred judification. Def. Jud. basically removes the offence from your record and you pay the fine. Then you go off on your merry way. Only catch is you cant get a ticket for the next 6 months. If you do, both offenses go on your record.

Be mad at me if you wish... you'll find truth in everything I said.

Hey man- I feel your pain, those tickets suck. My best friend has gotten two reckless driving tickets reduced to innatentive by talking to the prosecutor in the county concerned. If that doesn't work for you defensive driving class should take at lesat a couple of points off your record. Remember, never plead guilty and always talk to the prosecutor.

I posted this once or twice before, but i feel it's worth repeating. What i'm about to say might not work, but you've got a fifty fifty chance that may work (depending on what county you live in) and thats worth a shot if your insurance is on the line. So here goes: Pay the fine by mail...if you can. If you can't pay by mail, then this doesn't really work. OK, so pay by mail, but instead of paying the full amount, make your check 3 dollars over the amount of the fine. When the county office gets your check and sees that it is over the amount, they must issue you a refund check. If you get a refund check, don't cash it. Keep it. If you don't ever cash the refund check, the county cannot close the books on your traffic violation, and hence no points to your driving record. Just something to keep in mind if your insurance is on the line. Like i said earlier, this may or may not work depending on county office ethics/processing procedures. Oh and dont try this and dont mention that anybody told you to try this. Just something i heard and i would never ever try and beat the system at their own game *wink wink*Good luck.

well my girlfriends dads cousin is a judge here and he talked to him last night. he said i cant take def. driving but he said that they would probably lower the infraction so it wouldnt be as many points and as much money. he said not to fight it because in that situation it would be the judges call because it was what the cop witnessed. im not going to get this judge we talked to but he said he gets to review the tickets first and he said he will talk to the judge, im supposed to call him a couple days before i go to court and he is going to tell me what to do.

holy shat man, that sux you got a ticket like that. my word is, keep that shat off the streets, race at the track, otherwise expect to get a ticket. its the risk you take. If I speed, i know i might get got, but i never think that I can never get caught.

Example?? I got caught going 120 in a 65. 5 more miles, and I would have landed jail. I was weaving in and out on the highway (i was late to a final). And idiotically I thought I saw a cop, but didnt know. Said I passed him up and took him a while to catch up. But then I had slowed down to 65 when he caught me. Did he give a fack. hell fackin no. It was one fat fackin ticket tho. 2 weeks worth of pay went to that shat. My one and only ticket in 6 years worth of drivin, I paid it the same day, parents never found out, insurance never went up, pay that shat right away.

Moral of the story, if you think you see a cop, dont do nothin or you gonna get caught...
