I have a 92 240sx . So it was about a year and half ago. My car had fluctuating idles when i was at a stop. going anywhere between 100 RPM up to 2000 RPms constantly going up and down. And then one day, when i went to drive it, the idle fluctuated soo much that it cut off on its own right away.

So i decided to rebuild the KA24DE block. i took the block out and rebuilt it with the help of mechanic friend. I pretty much did everything and he walked me thruogh the more complex parts of the rebuild. I figured the the main cause of the idle was the timing chain so i checked the timing chain about 3~4 times before i put it back together.

Well, when i put everything back together, the car would turn but it didn't seem to fire/start. I could smell my fuel flooding the injectors though. the distributor, cap and all of that were replaced. I messed with it for about a month messing with the ignition timing and everything and nothing seemed to change.

What could be some possible reason for this? Could the IACV cause a car not to start or a vacuum leak? I think i "might" have mixed up the vacuum hose on the block between the firewall but i'm pretty sure i got it on right though since its molded hoses.

Could it be an electirical issue here? please help as i want my car back up and running again! Thanks

i dont know anything bout the 240 but have you checked the MAF sensor?

you mentioned its fuel injected so i imagine its electronic fuel injection with an ECU.
