i am new to turbo and i have trying very hard and finally made up my mind to turbo my KA instead of getting SR... I got a 95 240sx with 175K miles on it. I am thinking about rebuild it before i can turbocharge it. i want to rebuild the engine myself, i tried to search the form, it is all piece by piece, i was wondering if there is a website that teaches you how to rebuild a engine, also in the KA, what exactly i have to rebuild? some people say rings and piston, some says you dont need new heads and blah blah.... i want to be able to put down 350~400 at the wheel, so what parts do i have to buy where to get them, thanx.....~~~

there are many options. the best thing you can do is research in the ka-t threads and choose your path to turbo. Dont be discouraged at my reply, but all your answers are there.

I don't mean to sound like a smart-*** but s86d was right do the research yourself, if you want to build it yourself. That way you'll know exactly for what reasons you choose the parts you did. The methods for doing engine rebuild can't be that complicated (I've never attempted it yet) but if you do the research and select the hardware carefully ahead of time and plan the whole process from start to finish you'll need a lot less help to complete the project. I think it will be more gratifying if you do the brain work on your own, as opposed to somebody writing you as parts list and asking you to follow the instructions. Anyway I suggest reading the forum posts even if you don’t get anything to help your specific project, If you do see something useful print it put it in folder. That’s what I’ve always done. Anyway if you start and need some help the people here are very eager to help somebody. So good luck and keep as posted as to your progress with the rebuild process. My guess is for every person that ponders the questions you asked 1 in 10 asks them, but 100s more want the answers.

even if everyone on this forum gave answers, you wouldn't get a solid answer. You might have one person tell you the stock internals will hold 350 hp and another tell you that they blew their forged piston's ring lands at 14psi...Its a tough call, and a lot of it depends on the shape your engine is in. For instance, if your valves weren't seating properly you might wanna have a valvejob done and maybe some headwork while the head was at the shop... if your crank is scored you are gonna have to get it cut and get undersized bearings... but if your head and crank are in good shape, you wouldn't need those things.
