I have a 98 infiniti I30. I blew up the stock speakers and would like to replace them myself. I already purchase the speakers but now the hard part is taking out the stock speakers. Any one have any idea or manual to do that?

Thanks,Sokki

The speaker screens are screwed in from beneath the rear parcel shelf upholstry, which means you can't just pop them off to get to the speakers--you have to remove the whole rear shelf. You will need to disconnect and remove the Center High Mount Stoplight and it's plastic surround (and maybe the mounting bracket if it's in the way). Once that is out of the way, the parcel shelf upholstry should come up. It's held in place with 5 or 6 plastic clips along the forward edge. Pull up and they will break free (occasionally on the wrong end...you may want to stop by the dealer to have some replacements ready--they tend to break). Once those clips are free, lift the forward edge and slide the shelf forward. It should come free. You'll have access to the speakers at that point. When the speakers are replaced, make sure all the plastic clips are back in their slots on the shelf, then slide the rear edge back into it's pawls. Drop the forward edge and align the clips, then smack the shelf above them to seat them.

It's a pretty simple process, but breaking the plastic clips loose for the first time can take some effort.

seems to me the rear window and the seat is in the way of taking out the board. I found 2 orange clips and I did pop that but the window and rear seat is in the way. Any other ideas without brekaing the board or going to a profession getting charge $50 to put them in?

Thanks,

Sokki

The rear seat may need to be removed, but the illustrations I have seen for it don't show that it does. I know that the rear seat does need to be removed on my older Maxima, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for your I30.
