On my 1997 Pathfinder, the driver side rear window stopped responding one evening when pressing the button from the master driver switch. I then clicked the button a few times on the rear door itself and it started working again and it worked from the master switch after that.

Today now the passenger side rear window did the same thing. Didn’t work from the master switch and I had to click the button twice on the rear door itself to get it working again.

Is there a problem with the master switch?

Yep, that sounds like a problem with either the normally-closed contacts in the master switch or the master switch ground. The rear windows don't have their own brains like the fronts, so to allow them to work from both switches, the master has normally-closed contacts that are always connected to ground on both legs. When a rear door slave switch operates, it breaks the ground contact on one of the legs and switches it to power. So the motor is only being powered by the slave switch, ground needs to come from the master in both directions. if the master has a dicey ground connection or resistance in the NC contacts, both rear windows may misbehave.
