Rear bumper cost

Some idiot today scratched my rear bumper on the parking lot and run away. I was really pissed off, because i couldn't see him and i can't prove what happened. The damages aren't too big (just part of the paint peeled off) but it looks ugly. I'll fix it with some touch up paint, but i was just wondering does anybody know how much this bumper will cost if i have to go for a new one.

Is the bumper itself damaged or is it just that the paint is scratched?? If it just needs to be repainted, then the usual cost would be $200-$500 depending on the shop. A new rear bumper cover costs $225 retail and then would need to be painted as well.

Ouch, sorry to hear about that. Don't mean to increase your pain, but what color is the plastic underneath? On other vehicles I've seen black most frequently, but have also seen ugly shades of yellow.
