Hey guys I was redoing this adjustment today:

http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/208911.html

Afterwards I washed the car and let it sit, had to go out to Carl's Jr and found out the rear brakes wouldn't disengage. Any ideas on how to fix it?

If you did what that write up says, then the only thing that makes sense is to keep turning it back some more, until it's adjusted properly. Is it locked up on both wheels or just one? Does the parking brake lever inside the car move up any or is it really tight even when it's down?

lol when I realized the brakes were locked I immediately called my brother and cousin to help me take the wheels off and we did both in about 5 minutes. When we tried actually moving the rotors though they wouldn't budge. When pulling the ebrake I still do have to pull it up high in order to feel tightness, over 4 clicks I believe.

Ok, not 100% sure about this car, but a lot of cars there is a way to adjust the parking brake play on the actual cable that runs from the lever to the rotors in the back. It should be somewhere under the parking brake boot, or beneath the center console.

But for now man I'd just keep loosening that adjuster behind the rotor, evenly on both sides until the wheel can move. Then most importantly your shoes will be positioned right, then you can worry about adjusting the parking brake lever.

Was the lever wayyyy bad out of adjustment to begin with? Like was it really loose to the point where you would have to pull it all the way up? If so you probably will have to adjust the cable itself.

Good luck man, if me or anybody else can help in any way let us know!

The little latch/wheel mentioned in the writeup you mean? That's the thing, I can't rotate the rotor's anymore to get to it, at least not quickly, have to keep the wheels on and mark where it is somehow and move the car slightly to be able to do it, guess I should do that tomorrow.

As for the handle, I really had to pull it before to get them to engage. I'm weary at adjusting the nut on the handle though because this is my 2nd cable after breaking my last one trying to adjust that very same nut. I do remember that the last cable had a longer screw sticking out of the nut though compared to this one.

Above is the amount of the screw that is sticking out on the new cable compared to the old one, hope that explains what I meant about the handbrake cable.

Hey guys still having problems with this, anyone have a pick of where the ebrake cable connects to the actual brakes? Is there any way of just disconnecting that?

Forgot that I was just going to roll the car forward or backwards to get at the holes and car's running great again.

Hey es.biggs! Thanks for all your help with this, really appreciate it. Unfortunately no, the ebrake handle still feels like if it has slack up until I really pull on it. I've seen the bolt though on the last line I broke last month and I know there is more to the bolt than what I see with it covered up. So my plan is to remove the center molding to play with the cable and hopefully tighten it that way.

It seems every time I do something from a writeup I have to create a new thread though lol must be doing something wrong.
