Lest you folks think I am a complete idiot, let me explain that I unknowingly bought a used 2009 3.5SE Altima Coupe that was (illegally) not disclosed as a salvage vehicle--not to Carfax, the DMV, or anywhere! I don't have a light in my trunk and I don't want to tear up the carpet/liner looking for it. Can anyone kindly tell me where it's supposed to be and what parts I would need to restore it, assuming that the chop shop that "repaired" the back end neglected the light altogether?

I don't know how different the Altima Coupe is from the sedan, but I replaced my trunk light yesterday (after nearly 2 years of going without-- someone smashed into the rear of my car a couple years ago while it was parked in front of my house on the street, and the shop that fixed it missed the trunk light. More hassle than it's worth to take it back in and have it put in, so I just bought one for a couple bucks).

Anyhow, in the Sedan there's a little plastic dome / bubble (as the above poster mentioned, probably on the inside roof of the trunk in the center) that you have to pop open to insert the trunk light. It took me a few minutes of fidgeting to figure out how to open it, but once I did it was straightforward to insert the new bulb. Viola-- I have a trunk light now.

Don't know if this helps or not, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
