I agree with the shortcuts, it is no more difficult than a SR20 swap, however last time I checked teh installation cost on it was 2000 or 2500, my memory may not serve though, and the engine can be had for the same as the SR... To me, I would still suggest a 25 over a 20 any day of the week. : )

you do realize that an rb25 has 9:1 compression from teh factory and to get any real boost out of it you need race gas right

The RB20 has proven to be alot tougher than the RB25 as well as cheaper. Thing is with the RB's they arent alloy like the SR20DET and are quite different to drive in an s13 but apart from that i love them.

hey daunttless.......take a look at a company called Flaming River. they make universal joints for steering shafts. it might be a way to re route your steering around turbos.......if you drop the routing and maybe make a mount off the firewall with a bearing carrier for the shaft once its lowered....that might work. i could probably mess with something on CAD if you don't get what i am not explaining very well, but i bet you can probably figuire it out form there.

Hey, that would be helpful, could you give me some more info about them? Email me offboards: [email protected]

: ) Enjoy your day!!

Also, yes, I realize that the RB25 has 9.1:1 compression ratio, I thought you were the one that said good management will take care of such things. : )

As far as re routing your steering, don't go to the trouble of CAD cause people do it allthe time in street rods and race cars. The main thing is if you have any adequate changes is to make sure it turns freely and does'nt bind, naturally. The steering U joints can be readily found in any jegs or summit book.Hope this helps.

Pity you say the rb20 is under powered . 400-450 hp is very achiveable and 5-600 is doable they have them running 9's and 10 in jp abit with rb26 crank and rods. fit larger injectors a t04 e and you will be quite happy with the performance. the rb25's need as the other guy said either a thicker head gasket or lower compression pistons to run much over 17 psimeggala

The RB20 is a very strong engine. The compressions ratios allow it to run much higher boosts than the RB25 and you can achieve them more easily. It is also a lot lighter. In any case though, to get to high boosts, the best recommendation would be to upgrade to the RB26's crankshaft, rods, and pistons. With these much higher boosts are easily attainable.

RB20DET R32 215ps $1700 $2200 $595 RB25DE R32 170ps $1350 $2250 $595 RB25DET R33 250ps $2800 $4500 $1500

whats the R33 & R32 after the engine name..should we be worried about that? I pasted that from http://www.japanesemotorsport....s.htm

Just thought I'd share: the R34 GT25-T's (not GTS-T like previous models) RB25DET factory output is rated 280ps or 276BHP. I have one :)

In the Skyline. The RB25DET never came in the 240.

I mean the part where you said you have one. Did you do a swap into a 240 or you have a skyline?

If memory serves you take an RB26 crank, bore the RB20 block up and drop in Toyota 4AGZE pistons for an RB23 but if you have an RB26 crank you probably have the motor too so I would just drop in the RB26. The RB20 is a wonderful rugged engine but not worth it to replace an SR or CA.

Yep, It was great. I lived in Atsugi for 8 years. Raced cars at night and I raced pro-motorcross on the weekends. I miss Japan! I might be going home this Feb. (Okinawa) or going to mainland to visit some friends.

One thing I miss the most is the life style. Oh yea, the clubs and girls too....... heheheheheh

I hope I can go back, I need car stuff........................

hahaha is funny you guys would have a good runspeaking of runs put the skyline down the 1/4 on the week end14:04 @ 99.68 mph with a 2.1 60' timewhich awas a 1 second imporvment which I was happy with and I was running street tyres.I only have the r25 turbo on my cars and was only running .95 bar or 14 psifrom those stats with a bit more boost 13.7 13.8 is achiveable for 102 -103 mph.

here is a vid clip but sorry is my slowest run of the day only 15.06 http://www.meggala.com/mydrag.htm

the gtr in the clip ran 11.5 but will run deep into the 10's with sorting it was its first run on a track

enjoy

I'm retiring my Skyline, I need to save some cash flow for when I get back to the states. But if your running low 12's you'd give me a run for my money. Atleast till I get a pair of BFG drags on the back.

I live on Kadena by the way, I leave in about a year.

Meggala, you need more boost buddy. Xmas is coming, time to get that BB you've always wanted. Might as well buy an alcohol injection kit so you can hit atleast 20psi.

Man, I want to go home!!!!!!!!!!! I miss Oki!!!!

Thanx, the Greddy intake makes a big difference in the way the motor looks.

The car is set up for drifting and canyon running. Unsure what it'll run in the 1/4. Will do when I finally get everything tuned.....

I have a HKS turbo right now, but I have two turbos coming for the car. One from Jim Wolf and the other from Inovative Turbo. They are building me custom turbos to try out on the car.

I am also working on pistons, crank, and cams for the car.

Hey Meggala, going to be developing a bunch of stuff for the RB's (20's, 25's, & 26) here real soon. Will need your input on a bunch of stuff. See you on the Velocity board..........................
