Here we go Znatics! Been away on business 4ever but hitting the garage hard this weekend! I know its Christmas but gotta get rolling soon! About to start the rb20 complete swap on my '87z. I said the hell with nickle and diming trying to rebuild to stock so I purchased the rb which will be here an a couple of days and the fun will begin. Didn't seem to find much on this task so will post as I go..... Wish me luck and minimum drag time...... dynamitez

you might want to do a bit more digging, there have been a couple of fairly detailed RB Z31 swaps, one in complete JDM ZR200 style

I been helping my bro with his swap. I already have a ca18det swap in my coupe but the z31 is a new beast. I've been loonking all over the place for info but have not had any results. I think we are pretty good so far it's just the Z wiring is a little crazy. If anyone could give me a pinout link that would help a lot. Thanks in advance

Why did you get the worst motor of the RB series? The RB25 has so much more potential and usually only costs an extra couple hundred dollars.

And if you didn't want to nickel and dime yourself, why did you buy a used import motor. You're going to spend so much more on that RB than you would have on a VG33 or another VG30. And parts would have been so much easier to find.

Because a VG is obviously worse, due to the fact that it is not JDM. Everyone knows that any motor that Japan reserved for every place but America was done because they were in fact the best motors ever made. The addition of a turbo also negates the extra 1-1.3L afforded by this failure of an engine.

Anyone that reminds us that a VG can come with a turbo too is a hater btw.

Thanks Ravera.

I think the Vg30 series are good engines but the rb20 is much easier to work with even with the mods needed to fit it. I hate to say it but the engine bay was full of so much crap with the VG. I already swapped a Ca18det, now it's a rb20. We already have plans of getting a rb25 for our next project.

If you guys really want to do an easy engine, do a V8 swap. They're plentiful, cheap, and make gobs of power. Plus, you can go down to any auto parts store and they'll have tons of parts for you.

Yeah the V8 swaps are some nasty hybrid beasts. Maybe one day a twin turbo vette engine! But for now we have the engine and the swap is in the works!

If you do a LS9 in a twin turbo form in any classic Z

No doubt that it will be fast....Love it or hate it, you have to admit it's one hell of a ride
