You should leave a loop or some kind of access to the #1 cylinder wire at the 7-pin plug so you can easily hook up a timing light to it. Just a little reminder before you install it and everything.

no need to, you can clip the timing light to any spark plug cable directly as it'll be exposed.

i have a question about this, when you connect cylinders 1-6, 2-5 & 3-4 together each of them to a coil. does it matter were cylinder 1-6, 2-5, 3-4 are either on the top or bottom of the coil?

I wonder how this setup would be wired on a stock ecu RB25 series II

The same way, you just have to wire in the igniter.Take my word for it, I got curious and ended up frying this chip in my ecu on my daily driver.

Lucky for me I had an extra parts ecu lying around that I cannibalized

it doesn't matter top or bottom of the terminal, but as far as the 1+6, 2+5, 3+4 are on its own coil bank. the firing order will be messed up and may kill your engine if you don't. picture it in your head, it's pretty simple.

Are you using the stock ignitor or did you just trim it?

The only reason to do this mod is if you are having problems with the stock ones and don't want to spend upwards of $500 on splitfire coils and don't want to spend upwards of $50 per stock coil to have it mess up down the road.
The coils in my sig are up for sale.

Matafied !!!

I need your help !

You seem to have the exact same setup as me (rb25det series 1) but you DO have the wasted spark system running!

After installing my kit, it wasn't running on no.4 and no.6

in this picture : http://is.rely.net/3-117-5221-...Q.jpg

I see the exact same 2 plugs I have, the 6pin plug going from the ignitor to the coilpacks and the 2 pin plug with the power and ground wires.

I see that you have somehow connected the ground wire to the 6pin plug !!! How and where ?

these are my plugs : http://www.wjweb.nl/image/DSC00122.JPGh ... C00121.JPG

Need to have this fixed by the end of the week, so kind of in a hurry, don't want to refit the coilpacks

Yea I think that could be part of your problem, the 2 pin plug on our application is power and timing reference (black wire), their is no ground on the plugs, that black wire on the 2 pin plug gose back to #1 and #6, but their is a ground on a ring terminal that loops around to all the coil packs that’s on the cylinder head, I just used it to ground the bracket I made, so you don’t need it at all, just me being extra anal. Ours is a little different from the diagram posted but essentially the same thing. Also double check your wiring, we all make simple mistakes some times so retrace your steps and don’t loom everything up until your tried it and is working fine. I haven’t had any problems with this on my ride, best mod for dollar ive done. So it dose work, good luck and let me know if you get it strait or if you have any other questions

ok quick update,i was running this on my car for about a week when i started noticing the car start chopping up in the higher rpm range and it was gradualy getting worse. after some troubleshooting i discovered that the factory rb coil power wire was not effecient enoph to supply the big GM coils. so just to be safe i ran a ground wire from the battery to my igniter ground (center pin on 7 pin connector) and a new power wire from B+ on a relay and used the factory coil power wire to switch the relay. and vala all better i checked my timing and have been driving all week with no problems. so anyone that is running this and having issues no biggie its a simple fix.

THANKS A TON!!

I'm currently wiring my new coil up and I'll go back and make sure I use larger gauge wire.

Thanks again!-Gary

Is there any way to take out the igniter when running a wasted spark setup? Also does the polarity matter on the coil?
