Hey basha, have you tried it? I'm just cautious b'coz a lot could go wrong if that belt fail. I might regret not buying the right stuff.

Hey just my 2cents from Canada! We know cold! Check your power steering belt if it is dried out it will squeal! When it is cold all the fluids in the car are thick and it makes in harder to pump them around. The belt then slips around the pulleys. They are loose or dry.

Good luck Beautiful!

Hey i just noticed we are not far apart from each other. Let me know we can share rides! LOL! Got a 2006 GT roadster Blue/grey interior > again give that a try. Sounds like your mechanic may need some help.

Bar of soap does work, but you may aswell go to canadian tire and get the belt spray but dont get belt dressing that stuff is really messy and you'll hate yourself for using that stuff once you work on your car.

So if you got a new belt and still makes noise i'd tighten the belt up more or maybe it could be the second belt?... (don't know e50z)

It could maybe be a worn bearing on one of the pullys.

But if you say its when you turn the wheels all the way in one direction that's probably the relief valve on your power steering pump while you hit the stop screw.

btw don't take ur car to canadian tire

I'm guessing it's a mixture of cold/worn belts.

I wouldn't recommend WD-40 as it seems to break the rubber particles down and make them softer.

Also a common cause for the high pitch squeak sound is a bad water pump.

Could be one of the belt pulleys. doesn't need to be going bad to make noise. I've had a water pump and an alt. make that noise your describe at the times your describing. It got to the point of it being so annoying that i just replaced them with aftermarkets. pwoblem aww gone

sooo definately not coincidence that when i turn the air off the squeeling stops.was squeeling today shut air off. squeeling stopped. turned the air right back on. and squeeling was gone. funny eh?

so has something to do with the air blowing. now i noticed in the 350z that the moment you turn the air on the a/c light is always on. then goes off after a while.

so when we start our car. does that mean the a/c always comes on first?

I believe the a/c light turns on because it activates the a/c compressor. The a/c compressor is not necessarily always working but it does dish out a little now and then to keep the climate set at whatever temp you set it at.

Then again, I could be full of crap lol. This is just my theory.

I kinda had the same thing happen to my car when I changed the belts. Happened with the air on too, now that I think about it. I honestly think it is just the belt, because once you have your a/c compressor activated it creates a load on the belt and the belt doesn't spin as freely as it would if the compressor wasn't activated. My solution.......I ignored it over the winter, kept the a/c off at all times, and now it doesn't seem to do it anymore. I also tightened the belt twice because it will loosen up as it gets worn in.

I honestly couldn't remember how many belts I put on lol. I just checked my manual real quick, there is only one other belt than the alternator one......the a/c belt lol.

Technically speaking we do not have a timing belt. We actually have a timing chain, which is a bit more durable. I doubt you need to worry about changing that yet. A good theory is to change it at about 100k miles.
