I have no clue what the RMS ratings are for these units. I may be wrong ( heck, I'm PROBABLY wrong), but I seem to recall that the peak ratings are 180w for the SL's 6-disc changer and 120w for the S's stereo.

Manufacture of the speakers depends on which unit and audio package you have. the S should have basic Panasonic speakers, the SL should have Clarion (?) for its basic speakers, and "uprated" Clarion speakers and a Rockford sub with the audio package.

swapping out the HU will make a pretty big difference in both cars, though you're going to run into a wall quicker with the S's basic paper cone speakers. Since you have an S, plan on replacing the speakers at the same time as the HU.

Everything he said.... i changed my headunit before my speakers, and yeah, it was a lot louder, but distorted a LOT more. If you do speakers, i would recommend infinity 6022i's

i have the 2 way coaxial speakers... they sound great, might get a sub to fill out the bass... but they sound great.

i have an alpine CDA-9886... and its awesome... just my 2 cents

Didn't someone say he/she found Blaupunkt speakers in his/her SL?
