Do u think if I mount a radar detector on the rear window it would work ok. still facing the right direction and every thing, I figured it would be more hidden. Also the 12v outlet is right there pretty much.

Any detector worth it's money will run you about $400.

In otherwords, there are 2 worth a salt detectors. Escort Passport, and Valentine1. All others are undesirable, and don't give as good detection rates and distances.

Cobra detectors are the bane of my exestience. They are so crappy.... I'll just leave it at that.

well. let's say if your butt gets a 3oo or 400 dollar ticket twice in a span of one year the lazer jammer will pay for itself...so yeah it is alot of $$$ but its worth it.

over here a place sells it installed for $625

its two sensors in the front, one in the rear.

If your scurred of the man, then you can put the detector up right under your sun visor, then run the wires along the A pillar and hardwire it in, or if you have the homelink mirror hardwire it into that.

I don't know about NY, but most every cop in Florida has switched over to ladar, and in that case you're already screwed even if you have a laser detector.

There is a 12v outlet on the passengers side right by your feet. One of my friends has it mounted right behind the rear view mirror. You cant see it but you can hear it. If your getting one you should get the Escort 9500i.

Richie stop wasting money on navi and radar detectors. The only ones that work are the jammers Soup was writing poetry about all other detectors are useless. Or quit tryin to be a big baller and do what I did make friends with Lawyers, Doctors, and Judges, they will get anything fixed for their friends. I get 4 to 6 tickets for speeding a year and they have never seen my DMV or insurance records , remember POLITICS run this country.

Radar jammers are illegal...period....in every state. Laser jammers are legal in states except California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Washington DC. While they're legal, a few traffic police that I know in my area have said if they find ANYTHING fishy on their laser scope, they either pull you over right then and there and find something to fine you with, or they will pull out and pace you and then pull you over. Another thing they will do is just guestimate your speed based on the other cars around you they clocked and their training and write you a ticket, Though I'm sure that varies state to state....I'd be careful with jammers, but that's just my .02.

I'd say best bet is just don't do 155 and avoid the ticket.

Okay, jammers are alright, but will usually still net you a ticket.

Escort and Valentine will pick up the laser/lidar that is refracted from other vehicles. But it doesn't detect as well as it does radar.

Laser/Lidar is only able to be used by an officer in a stationary position. Here, my biggest problem is the cop who is in traffic with me.

Pacing is a joke. If you can't walk out of court with no fine from a pacing ticket, you don't deserve to drive.

Biggest thing, detector or not, learn your rights, learn how to beat tickets, dress nice for court. I have beaten every ticket I have received in WA State, even when I was clocked at 63 in a 40 with lidar.

Write your own report of the situation. Make it as detailed as possible. Remember all the cars on the road with you, where they were positioned, where the cop was, and where you were.

They have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, with a preponderance of evidence that you committed the crime. If your report is more detailed and accurate than the officers, it's a free walk from court.

Nope, federal law states that in every single state RADAR jammers are illegal. There is no law against LADAR jammers, but when I asked 3 friends who work for the Florida State Troopers, 2 that work for the Palm Beach County SO, and one who works for Broward SO, they all said that while it's not illegal, they ticket you anyway.

They all said that the LADAR scope throws either a 99999mph, an error message, or it shows half the speed you are really going...so if you are doing 90 it shows up as 45, etc.

Again they said it's not illegal, but as soon as they see that they WILL pull you over and throw the book at you.

**EDIT**

Sorry didn't see you weren't debating that, my bad. Anyways I think the best is the Valentine1 for a radar detector.

Eh, I'm cautious. My friends with the PBSO have all gotten tickets passed through based on pacing.

But yeah friends in the civil service industry FTW.

ok.... the deal is to not get pulled over which is the point of getting a radar detector, correct?..... well if thats the point, then mount it on the windshield. they are not going to pull you over because you have one.... if they take the chance of pulling you over for that (which could be anything with all the navi and GPS stuff out there now) they are dumb... and i would just tell them its for the navi....pigs don't know!!

If you're concerned about speed cameras and red light cameras and you need a radar detector as well you need to look at one detector. http://www.escortradar.com/9500ix.htm

For drivers out there that already have a radar detector that need some spped camera & red light camera protection I'd recommend the Cheetah. http://www.speedcheetah.com/

If you want speed camera locations you should get a Tom Tom. They have a feature that warns you when you are about to approach a speed/safety camera. You have to subscribe though, but it even has traffic.http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=8&Lid=4

when used in conjunction with this

is the best way to avoid a ticket
