I was having fun this morning with my "very spirited" drive to work with my buddy in his G. I had setteled down in a good bit of traffic and my radar detector was going insane. It just wouldn't stop. I turned it off and back on and there it goes again. Just solid signal. After a few more blocks, I got a look ahead of me. There was a cop 3 cars ahead of me. Wouldn't I have felt like an idiot if I had gone "spiritedly" around him with my detector beeping off the windshield.

yep... i always trust my detector, usually its a cop.

what is annoying (and kinda cool) is that my V1 detects Audi's rear view camera radar and/or adaptive crusie control on the KA band... so I'll be getting this constant warning only to past a Audi and my V1 is quiet again. I can literally track Audi cars on the highway.

You wouldn't think the FCC would allow Audi to share those frequencies with police radar. If Audi can transmit KA, how could a radar jammer on the same frequency be illegal?

In the city, I get automatic doors and stuff. It is rare for it to go off for that long. I just thought it was wacking out on me. It is getting old, but has never let me down.

Strange about the Audi....hmmmmm

Once the novelty of Audi detection faded, that would just become straight annoying.

my V1 detects Chevy SUV's on the laser band. No idea why. Hot exhaust temps maybe? But every time Im behind one of those its a sure thing my V1 will go off in laser band.

Where I drive my detector had blocked all the automatic doors and such. It's nice to have quiet :)

Quiet? What is that? You obviously have never ridden in a Z. :chuckle:

I actually have trouble hearing my detector over my radio. I'm usually jammin, thus the obnoxious ringing in my ears. :frown:

My detector is quiet, my G isn't. Hi-flow cats and catback is probably louder than your Z.

I have always thought that a good invention would be a r/d that made it's warning signal through your radio. Then you would be sure to here it.

yeah ive notice the false dection for lazer on all GM vechicles, its the high mount tail light thats very close to a red lazers wave length. (to me this just validates how good of a detector the V1 is) This is a known false dection that is listed in documentation on the valentine one website. I need to check and see if the audi false detection is listed, if not ill send them an email...

here is a quote:

"Laser False Alarms
1. Red neon, from stores and occasionally from brake
lights of other cars (example: Chevy TrailBlazer,
GMC Envoy, Olds Bravada and Buick Rainier), can
imitate the characteristics of speed laser.
Solution: Move away from source.
2. The electrical systems of some cars generate
electromagnetic interferences, triggering laser alerts.
How to test: Try V1 in a different car.
Possible solution: Try relocating detector within the
interfering car; also, your dealer may have a factory fix.
3. Adaptive cruise control systems using laser may cause
laser alerts.
Solution: Switch to normal cruise control."

" Numerous false alerts. Other super-
heterodyne radar detectors mounted in the same vehicle 1. Do not operate V1 in close proximity to other detectors.

You also have to be careful with the infiniti navigation screens. they can set off the laser alert on the RD. Also high beams from many cars if really close will set it off.

Yes, I've pointed my 9500 at the dash and it goes off :)

I've never had high beams set it off tho.

For some reason, radar detectors go off right in front of the dealership where I bought my Z. There are a lot of big towers, don't really know what they are. David and I call it the Z-car detector. :chuckle: I always have to look over there and see how many Z's they have.

could be.....I get nailed with lazer at the airport all the time via their approach systems I guess. Mostly mine is quite as it learns and blocks them out.
