Need everyone who prays to pray, because tonight I am racing my stock 08 Sentra Ser against my wifes Toyota Avalon, 06, which is stock also. By all accounts, she should win. Saw online that the Avalons run 14.6 at 99mph and I don't think theres any way I can touch that. So I guess I am going to have to wholeshot her and hope she doesn't come around me.

I'll let you know how it comes down.

Also, if there are any tips on driving this CVT, I would appreciate it. Because it seems like at full throttle around 6k theres not as much power as there should be. But when I let of a little around 4500-5000, the car seems to surge. So would it be better to use the shifters to keep the car in the 5k range??

I hope this on a drag strip because you'd be pretty stupid to race someone on the street.

FYI it is on a strip. I have always had muscle cars and just want to put an actual time on the SeR, because it will more than likely be my sons in about two years. I have a 500+hp 67 Camaro that runs mid 11's. This is just doing something different with the family, and letting my son know that there is no replacement for displacement. And that if he wants to get into racing, he needs to start with atleast a 6 cyl turbo and go from there.

I did not realise one needs a high horsepower car to have input in to the dangerousness of street racing.

No one is street racing. We are going to a NHRA sanctioned track. And you are right, street racing is bad news.

Alright, you got me there, but an SE-R isn't much of a drag racer either. Im putting that in my sig, thanks!

And I don't know much about racing, but just keep it off the street. It's all good, welcome to NiCO too.

The wife decided not to beat up on me so we just took the Sentra. I will say Atleast it was consistent. three. 16.0 runs. One 15.9. And when the temp dropped about 12 degrees it ran a best of 15.8@88 mph. Not what I was hoping for. So whoever had the 14 second stock 08 SeR , you are the man. There was a low 15 second 05 spec-v. With a header and cold air intake. Anyway that's all for now. Feel like I should have gotten a spec-c. The extra 23 HP would have been nice.

Made me LOL when there are 8-9 sec four cylinders. Makes me laugh everytime someone says "theres no replacement for displacement" yet there are all motor fwd four cylinders running 9 sec 1/4 miles and your 500+hp rwd camaro can only get 11's. Glad you kept it on the track though.

Hey, I'm not knockin anyone. What's really cool is that my little stock ser is running the same times that many of the infamous hotrods back in the day ran. It was nice to sit in the staging lane with the ac running. And as for the 8 - 9 second 4 bangers. no turbo, nitrous' supercharger, I'd love to see them. My camaro is a full interior, 3200 lb , pump gas, stock 43 year old suspension design, TA radial tire wearing street car. Show me a four cylinder without all the adders that runs even a 13 and I will stand corrected. I'm not doggin anyone. I love hotrodding to its core. Its all about taking what u have and making it as fast as it will go. That's it.

This is one example.

This is a non turbo sohc and I think non-VTEC engine. Basically the base honda engine, and it gets 9.6 in a fwd car. I think this is the only N/A 4 banger in the 9's but there are plenty of others that are turbo'ed in the 9's and 8's. Its just so hard to get a good time with fwd. I am really just saying that you dont need 6 or 8 cylinders to have fun or go fast.
