What are the cars that you have smoked with the J? If a 2008 Honda civic coupe EX (not SI), and the J went head to head who would win? Ex has like 175 HP

Please do all "racing" on private tracks and not public roads. A lot of tracks/speedways will let you in at non peak times for next to nothing as long as you sign a damage/injury/death waiver.

FYI a civic would take a J off the line if it was a manual....however from a rolling start....say a 40 roll the J would walk all over the civic...also it would depend on the drivers......but seriously its not worth your life or someone elses to be racing on the street....i have done lots of performance mods to my J but ill be running it on a strip whenever i finish her next summer...IMHO wait to mess with the performance parts on your car until you have plenty of experience driving by yourself...only then will you be able to know what YOUR car needs and what YOU want...sure everyone wants to go faster but if youre just looking to buy parts and install and then expect the J go faster w/o truly knowing why its going faster or how then youre asking for trouble...and parts for the J ARE NOT cheap(and you better believe that gas mileage will decrease when you start modifying the J)as your mod list grows so will that weight in your right foot...ive spent almost $3000 in parts and am barely over 310ehp....in all honesty if you do fix up your J the most you can get out of her w/o twin turbo swap is just under 400hp....thats doing everything ive done and getting custom headers, port and polishing the heads, port matching the upper and lower intakes...bigger throttle bodies...and forged internals.....thats not including upgrading the transmission or the brakes....

im sorry for such a long post i just want you to understand what youre getting into...ive already spent around 3k and in order to finish the J performance wise ill need another 3k-4k....when it comes to our cars youre going to get what you pay for...expect to pay an arm and a leg in order to get the quality you want...ok im done rambling now my bad im not by any means trying to down or discourage you

now the J is cabable of as you say "beating" other cars you have to take into consideration it was not designed to...with that in mind once youre able to drive on the freeway by youreself youll truly know what i mean...

I truly hope we don't read about you wrapping around a tree the first time you break the rear end loose. No way I would have let either one of mys sons start out in a J.Rear wheel drive can be dangerous if your not familiar and know how to deal with it.Especially VLSD.

Might need some rear shocks.I was talking about loosing rear end traction when you stomp on it.

I think you're being a little optimistic.

Put her on a dyno and lets see!

I've been to 2 different drag strips where I actually got to run my car (VW Golf, not J30). One place it was about $30 and I got to put in about 20 passes and the other it was only like $15 and I probably did almost 30 passes. Great fun!

One of the ones I went to was 3 hours away and the other one was about 1 hour.

The closer one actually had a for sale sign on it and that night was the last night it was ever open.

i will definately dyno as soon as i get a chance...we just recently found out were expecting so its put everything else on hold including my J....dont worry though ill get around to it...i drove a friends J earlier last week and in comparison to mine it was significantly slower...now by no means will i be as someone else put it speed racer...but hey its something different and fun....oh and NALA i cant take pics of the mods as they are already installed however i did take pics during the install...im not sure what they would be under...try searching Jim Wolf cams j30 in the search box...theres a pic with the new cams and the injectors and the entire upper plenum off...

I definately agree. My kids, once they are old enough to drive will definately be starting out with an auto fwd. If they drive for a year and can prove to me they can handle the car they have. Then I'd conisder letting them drive something rwd or manual. Especially if they are on my insurance. lol

I remember the first winter I drove the J by myself, thinking this corner's just wet I'll gas it a bit and stick the rear end out. The passenger side fender tells that story.

first time I knew a QX4 was offered in FWD...must be a custom one off because they never left the factory that way. They were either RWD (base) or 3 mode AWD

Nala,

My son (15) had his first day behind the wheel last week. Unfortunately for him, I saw your first post in this string...

Stay safe.

I am 28 and after driving for 2 years (I did not have $$ to get a car) all I can say is... "staying safe is more than anything else". If you are a really aggresive kind of person, the street is not your battle field as u will get no reward at the end.

Stay cool dude and drive safe.

I agree with that. As an ex-street racer, I can tell you that contact with the cops is no fun.

Naladude911, I can tell you from personal experience that unless you put some serious mods onto a J30, the Civic will walk all over it. Whenever I find out how to do so, I'll post some videos that I had taken @ my hometown drag strip of my 2 races. I raced against a J30, & needless to say, I was disappointed in its performance. It was modified; my Civic was stock (it has the 1.8L R18A1 SOHC i-VTEC with a 5 speed auto transmission), & I still beat it by 2 cars. Nobody was sandbagging, either, & this was @ a drag strip about 20 minutes away from my hometown.

The '06-up Civics (non-Si models) come w/140 FWHP & 128 FW lb-ft torque stock. However, it weighs 2751 lbs for curb weight. In comparison, the J30 has the VG30DE engine with 210 RWHP 3.0L V6 & 193 lb-ft torque stock. But it also weighs 3575 lbs stock. So it's a bit too heavy to get a good jump off the line.

I'm not trying to put you down or anything; I just felt that I had to let you know what was going on. But on a final note, street racing is lame. Very lame.

$4.75 premium here. Yep, half a tank. We live in the "rich place, where they put up gas prices because they think everyone is rich" lol. $80 for a whole tank!!!!!!
