trying 2 put car in time i put a rod in cilinder 1 and put it 2 the highest port wondering do i put the button pointed 2 first wire or were it conects 2 the rotor 2 the first wire

You can either line up the marks on the distributor gear with the notch in the distributor or take the cap off and line up the rotor with the first point on the distributor. I typically use the latter since the gear will rotate as the the distributor is inserted into the block.

Ps: I don't believe I understood that, I was almost gonna make a crack about the flux capacitor.

My car is out of timing i think. So i put it to top dead center but i dont know how to line up the distributor.

Be sure you're on TDC compression on cylinder 1 and not TDC exhaust, by making sure your on TDC compression make sure the second marking on the crank pulley is lined up. Then b4 installing the distributor line up the markings on the gear and shaft so the rotor is pointing to cylinder 1 sparkplug, and do wat Ligouri RD stated earlier. after dats been done,use a timing light to finalyze your timing by setting it to 20 degrees BTDC +/- 2. tighten up the distributer bolts then there u go.

ill try but i realy dont know what im doing. i got it started a little while ago by cranking for like 4 sec then taking the fuel pump fuse off it starts for a little bit
