So...., is there anything special about installing some performance shocks on a 1985 4x4 sport truck? Should I just attack as normal or is there something I need to look out for ?

Nothing too crazy. Its fairly simple to do a strut swap on these trucks. The only part I have ever found hard is compressing the shock in the front in order to get it in between the control arms, but that is not too big of a deal.

Ran into one small glitch. On the right rear leaf springs there is a shackle that wraps around the leafs and the helper leafs. The corner of it will impact the side of a beefy shock, easily fixed by adding about 1/4" of washers to the bottom post before sliding the shock onto it. Its still really close but appears to now have just enough clearance to not ding the shock.
