So I have a 86 z31 na with digital instruments. When I bought the car they didn't light up so I took the power supply out sent to someone who fixes them and it worked fine after putting it back in. A few weeks later now the speed indicator is beginning to fail as well as the tach. I'm guessing that the gauge cluster is suffering from a bad connection like the power supply was.

My question is what is involved in taking out the gauge cluster? Do I need to take out the entire dash?Anyone have a link to a manual or something that can guide me step by step through the process, and is it possible it could be something other than a bad connection? The speed will randomly work sometimes but usually just displays rubbish.

thx

I'm thinking the 86 has the cable that feeds the remote sender underhook, I'd have a look at both fo them before looking at the otherwise working digital cluster

to pull the cluster you do not need to pull the dash, you ca drop the column or remove the steering wheel and cover then just take the scres out fo the cluster hood to reveal the clutster mounting bolts

to pull the dash, the consolde has to come out, the defog vents need to be removes, the column dropped as well as the under dash panels then the center panel comes out, then you cna get the the various mounting screws but not needed
