quote:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------The car has been drilled and lightened where possible (and safe) and I was able to shave 220+ lbs. without removing any interior luxury items. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How can you do this to a Q, removingg weight is just as good as adding HP except cheaper, im just curious as what the hell can be removed with out changing the charecteristics of the Q, Thanks

Not much - Perhaps swap that 75-lb silencer at the rear, the spare and jack....Maybe 100 lbs.

Beyond that, you're either making it louder, hotter, or more uncomfortable.

When you disasssemble a junker, you get the feel for the lack of weight of everything.

When you study the Press, they point out the areas they lighten:New transmission is 70 pounds lighter [yet an extra gear], engine is 30 pounds lighter, suspension now uses aluminum where possible, hood was aluminum already, front seats are heavy.

All the fluids weighs 55 pounds plus 135 pounds of gasoline.

I've heard that a few times before, but looking at a few junkers with smasked noses, I see a lot of rust... are we talking about the first gen. Q, or later models?

Right, it's DuraSteel, a lighter weight stronger [but warpable]steel alloy than the bulk of the car. Same with A, B, and C pillars except they are foam filled as are some underbody stiffeners. reinforcements.

I thought it was different than the rest of the car... Thanks for the clarification!

Plexiglass all around, stationary windows and moon roof. Racing seat. Rip out the interior panels, carpet and sound deadening material. Then remove all the interior electronics. Gut the trunk and doors completely, then add zeus fasteners. make a one piece carbon fiber mold of the nose. Then foam-fill the frame, and cut a few holes. Replace the US drivetrain with the President's transmission and engine.

On second thought, It might be easier to install an anti-gravity device.

They are the same cars, other than precats and a flipped dash, some dash electronics '[radio] and the fender mounted mirrors and of course the luxurious cloth seats/interiors instead of our dead animals.
