Question About ka24de compression...

yea i was thinking about going turbo on my ka24de. the motor has about 320 k miles on it and when i did the compression test on it all four cylinder pushes out 185 each. i was worndering if i can boost my ka, any suggession please feel free to tell..

thats a pretty high compression i thikn???check the FSM for compression for ur engine....

and yeah its possibe to boost this block just gotta have the fund to do it right

thanks for the suggession but the motor has about 320k miles on it i dont know if the motor will hold and i check the data sheet it said that the compression should be around 150 to 179 psi.

ha i was right lol

thats usually cuz of carb build up and ****...

try seafoaming the engine and run another compression test

should change compression a bit... but i doubt by 25+ psi

if anything give it a rebuild if u wanna boost

The fact that they are all the same and just a hair over spec means the rings are good enough to hold some boost. Ill bet that those #'s are better than a lot of the guys that go KA-T. Mileage is irrelevant. If you are still worried about it then do a leakdown test and if that turns out ok i would say boost it.

Your power goals are also going to affect if you should build up your engine.

thats my main reason why i suggest rebuild...or atleast change up the gaskets...
