My car died weeks ago. My car is 2001 Infiniti I30.
The mechanic told me the engine computer is burned as somewhere short circuit.
He said it would be very hard to find a used computer for my car.
He also told me all information of the computer must match my car. Buying a wrong computer wont help anymore.
That's all information he gave me:

Nissan 3T, A56-Q79 ZA0 0Z05, Produced by UNISIA JECS CORPORATION in Japan.

He tried to order a new computer from dealer. But a new computer will cost me 1400 USD, including labor fee and reprogramming fee.

I googled it and found many computers. They are from broken I30. But the type numbers are different from mine, A56-Q79 ZA0 0Z05.

Here I want to ask you all.
Will the computer from other 2001 Infiniti I30 with different number work on my car?
Does anyone know where to buy a used computer? Online or local (I am now in NY)?
Does anyone who can help me to fix the problem? I can pay you.

Thank you.

First of all :welcome: to NICO!

You can check http://www.car-part.com for used ones. There are several there that show your same part number. You would want to match the donor car and yours by year and options.

All of that said - how much do you trust your technician's diagnosis? It is extremely rare to see an ECU fail unless body damage or water is involved.

Thank you very much.
Actually, I trust him in half.

The website you gave me really help me a lot. I found some used computers there.
Thanks a lot again.

Please let us know how it works out for you. I will be interested to know if the ECU actually fixes your problem.

Thanks!

did you find anywhere to get your ecu yet? i have the exact same problem with my 01 maxima, i pulled the ecu and took it apart and found one chip in it completely exploded. my unit is number matching to yours. i found the chip that exploded for $10 im going to try to repair the board although the board looks badly burnt. if i get this to work i will be in the market to buy burned ecus, or fix them for people.

also it is very likely that the ecu is your problem, i've done a lot of research and it looks like a lot of people are having this problem, seems like especially with this ecu number. remember to replace the IAC vavle before replacing your ecu, or this will happen again. also it's a good idea to unhook the electronic motor mounts, as they can cause this same issue.
