the dome light in the rear is now in the middle unlike the m56 and it appears you have to remove the whole assembly to change the bulb. How do I do this without messing up the head liner?

Not sure how to get this assembly off to change the bulbs any help will be appreciated. It doesn't appear the lens pops off im trying to remove it without damaging the roof liner.

I got it out with plastic scrape tool from the bondo section in autozone without damaging headliner. Its a funny clip.

Was going to say use a small plastic pry tool. Good job.

Thanks I got all of them done and I made sure they were off while installing so I didn't have any electrical problems. I tried to post more pics but it keeps saying error file too big.

Some pics of where the clips are would probably be helpful to others who need to get it off.

I'm trying to figure out a way as stated before it keeps saying file too big when I try to post the pics I took. Any tips?

I got it I resized the image to less pixels. The clip has a small lip on the bottom. The clips are on the same side as the buttons for the light, actually right in front of the buttons towards the edge. The other side has solid tabs that sticks out so don't try to pull from the light side towards the front of the car. I used a skinny plastic scrape tool from the bondo section of autozone and pushed in from the back of the car being careful not to damage the headliner and tilted it up to engage the tab and pryed down gently. Once one side was semi disengaged I went behind the other button from the back of the car to the front and pushed up to engage the clip and pryed down and finally got it. I'll post a pic of the assembly so it's clear also.

as you can see there is a plastic piece that sticks put near the tab so you will have to enter towards the middle to not hit the tab sticking out to allow you to push in to engage clip. Then it pulls forward and out the bulb housing twists out then change bulb. Hopefully this helps.

Yes the other side is solid tabs that stick out into the roof. I used this and put the angled part if the front facing down, slid it in while pulling down a little so the scraper angles up to contact the clip. you can feel spring tension then gently pry down on one side then same for the other side. If you hit a hard obstacle move it more to the middle cause there is a solid tab on the housing towards the outside corner that will prevent you from moving in far enough to contact the clip.

Thanks Krys - that is a different fixture from what is used in the regular Q70 (non-L). Did the bulbs that I recommended fit in that fixture? Did you need a couple more?

All the bulbs you recommend were the same. Thanks i got all of them switched over to led's. I waited until the door lights light cut off after about 10 min while all doors were open. I actually got all except the front dome from diode dynamics. Vled were the only ppl that had the ba9s. Diode dynamics shows you the + and - if you look through the cracks in the bulb housing . I installed all the doors and foot area with the + facing away from the inside if the car just in case they didn't work I know they all need to be switched in poliarity but to my surprise I got it right the first time. Hit unlock on key fob and all door lights and foot light came on thankfully. No shorts or anything because I guess I made sure the lights were off before installing. The license plate lights I had to switch around but only after they cut off. Thanks again.

Thanks for the update Krys and the lead on Diode Dynamics - it looks like they make solid LED products and are engineered and manufactured in the US.

Everyone has a brand they swear by. VLeds dot com is the only place I buy bulbs. Headlamps, turn indicators, interior, etc . They mi0ght cost more but they NEVER cause BUS issues, never have polarity trouble and they last the life of your vehicle. This requires a 194 bulb that shines directly down to facilitate reading while lighting the rear seat. Their bulbs are available in different kelvin ratings. I use 6000k in my vehicles. Thanks Larz - I fully agree on VLEDs - I swapped out all of my non-LED bulbs in my Q70 with VLEDs four years ago and have never had a single issue. I've been using their products for over 10 years. I'm close enough that when I order, my order usually arrives the next day by regular US postal service.
