Has anyone confirmed that this design actually works? I can't imagine why anyone would buy a real A/C vacuum pump if it was that simple. I love HFT, but some of their stuff is cheap snake oil.

update to thread I got the new oem compressor and dryer installed by a jap only independant specialist {former honda master tech who opened his own jap car repair store} .Oil drained out of old compressor was almost 5 ounces, and was crystal clear {flourescent green tint like prestone antifreeze} no debris or cloudiness whatsoever.Installed same amount of new oil back into new comp. vac/recharge,etc total cost 325.00 {labor only} a/c now working as it did back when car was new-I can actually set it low enough to shiver if I want. The biggest difference is at stoplights/idle the vent temps dont creep up to mid/upper 60`s like they were doing with old compressor, and fan speed doesnt increase trying to compensate for same.all in all,a success.
