This is AAACOMP ,, alot of the oder members know me.. Anyway last Monday I was rammed in the rear by a 1 ton Cargo van while stopped. The trunk is gone car totalled. Some injuries back and neck.. Truck owner has insurance thru State Farm.. I've been contacted by them and made an offer that's 1/2 of the top car on Autotracer. I listed most of the upgrades and add-ons which listed over $12k and faxed to the adjustor.. Anyone have a ideal what the car is worth.?Seats (front ) needed re-done other than that no scrathes or dents.. Eng , trans, 3000 stall speed torque converter, stainless steel 2.5" custom exhaust .Custom ECU, Custom TCU, etc, etc, etc. I did not have a For Sale sign in the car and would prefer to just have it back since the engine/transmission only had 68k on it. Oh, the car is a 92 Q45A converted to standard suspension Any help from anyone on resolving this issue with the insurance comcompy ?

Sure, see a doctor and retain a personal injury attorney now.

You can argue the car's value later during negotiations.

Totally agreed. Spend you're time negotiating on the REALLY HIGH VALUE things, like your potentially lifelong pain and suffering. Negotiate with the lawyer for contingency fees, then let him/her deal with the insurance.

Really sorry to hear about this Glen. Been through similar. It sucks..

Ouch!

I agree with the others ... see a lawyer asap and also go to the hospital to get your injuries checked (you may well have some hidden thing that will not show up immediately and needs to be MRI'ed to make sure that you are okay.)

Please get a lawyer who specializes in accident related injuries suits. This is exactly what the truck owners liability coverage is designed for - their insurance company is trying to get you to settle for less than what they truly owe you.

You got it! The most important thing is for Glenn to be made whole.

I too am sorry about your car, but glad you weren't driving a Civic or even a small Nissan car. A G50 is cheap life insurance.

I echo the above.

Glenn, get with an attorney. Now.

We can help with the car amount later, it's not gonna make much difference in the grand scheme of things.

Glenn,

Sorry to hear! I can relate, since Q1 and Q2 met a similar fate -it sucks though. I echo everyone's posts- take care of yourself first- there will be time to take care of the car later. Hope you are well!

Hey Glenn,

Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully you can recover your health. When my DSM was totalled, the lawyer had me put together a list of all aftermarket/oem parts with receipts and I got a lot more money from the other driver's insurance company then they were going to pay because the book value on my car(91) was nowhere near as high without the aftermarket parts. Definitely document everything well and your attorney can type up a nice letter that will push your case so you can get more money back. Good luck.

I would agree with other posters, get some good medical advice, quick and document everything. Back injuries can seem minor, at first (especially if the Doc is giving you painkillers, such as Vicodin) --- but cna be pesistent and disabling. I had a similar thing happen in May (and did all the wrong things in hte early stages of the injury).

Just totalled mine, too (thread in classified section). IT's at a friend's body shop, and he told me something interesting. Q owners hold onto their cars forever, and the only time they ever come to salvage yards is after a bad accident. That cuausaes parts costs to sky rocket. Both he and the guys at T 3 (local shop) say the parts are so costly that insurance companies will total a Q much faster than many other brands. Bottom line: if the ins co knows you know the of the parts, your settlement may increase...guess I'll find out next week.

This is eerily similar to my recent experience. In May I rear-ended a Jeep (long story) that buckled my hood and damaged the headlights and turn lights. Not a scratch on the Jeep because I was braking and went under his rear bumper at low speed. The body shop estimate using new parts was about $2500 (close to the book value of my 90Q); I got on the internet and located a hood in a salvage yard about 250 miles away. Hopped into the wife's van and took off, paying $200 for the hood. I found front light assemblies on Ebay for $150. Total cost about $700 including labor and painting. The car looks better than it did before the wreck. "Q owners hold onto to their cars forever" struck a chord. Of course, my wife thinks I'm crazy. She calls this board my "support group".

Unfortunately, the damage is too extensive for me to do that. However, the car is perfect from the firewall back. I'm thinking about keeping it to sell the good parts. I was dumbfounded when my wife supported this idea. However, I don't yet know how difficult it will be to get the insurance company to allow for this in the settlement.

Because of a new law in Georgia as of Jan 1, insurance companies won't let owners retain totalled cars, even for a price, so mine is gone. I do know the local salvage yard that has it and can provide contact info and the lot # if you need parts. I bought another 94, so may take some of them myself depending on its condition when I get it.

Just general info: insurance calculated the value of my car $5200 with 150,000 miles. It was pretty much stock, but had a complete service history. The "new" 94 has 77K, one owner, also somplete service records, and cost me $6250. Based on that, I really can't complain about the settlement.

At the beginning of the year, my 2001 civic got hitted by a bus on the freeway. The car then was spinning on the freeway, hitted the center divider wall and came to a stop. And last a no insurance no driver's license 16yr girl rear ended my left rear corner at 60mph. The car was total and my head and left side of my body was all banged up. The very next day I found a lawyer and see my medical doctor. Then I visited a chiropractor referred by my lawyer for the next 3 months. The chiropractor really has changed my view on this professions. I used to think they are all thiefs that work with a lawyer. I am so happy to be wrong. Thank God!!

Anyway, I replaced my Civic with a 97Q. A lot more in gas but a lot more in confident driving pass a bus or semi truck the next time.
