Hi there, I recently did a valve cover job on my 94 Q, and now it idles really bad, and there is no power at all. There's a lot of hesitation when reving the engine, has trouble reving past 3krpm. It is hard to start, and the first time i started it, it idled then died. But after that its been starting, but with lots of hesitationI have taken a look at the plugs, and the passenger side bank (2/4/6/8) spark plugs are fine, while the driver side bank (1/3/5/7) the plugs are all fouled up in black carbon, but they are sparking. Exhaust smells rich in gasoline vapors. Would a camshaft sensor on the drivers side bank be out of whack and cause this? Engine check light is not on. Any ideas on what the problem could be?Thanks in advance!~Anthony!

How many miles have you driven it since finishing the job, and what's the longest you've let the car run? Sounds like the left bank is running really rich. If the plugs are covered in soot, then so is the o2 sensor, though I'm not sure if that could make things worse. If the sensor heater isn't working, I don't think it would throw a code, and this would keep the sensor from working till it heated up via the exhaust gas. Can you measure the voltage going to the sensor at the connector and the continuity of the sensor heater?

Ive driven it around the block thats about it. We've let the engine run for about 10 minutes or so at the longest. Ill measure the voltage on the sensor when work on the car again. But would a bad o2 sensor cause it to run rich? The o2 sensors were replaced about 2kmiles ago when I did a plenum/KS job on it. Thanks again everyone.

I had sorta the same thing when I did it... I left the ignitor pack harness unpluged.....

CPS would throw a code if it was causing something like this......

Are your coils in there correctly, seated on the plugs, and the harnesses connected right?? Sounds to me as if its not firing....
