Well after 2 trips to the dealer on a tow truck we traded in the 01 Pathy after 1 year of ownership, the truck would throw codes for no reason and they would always be different, 1week it was all four 02sensors, the next it would be a fuel level sensor coupled with somethin else, but the straw that broke the camels back was saturday my wife came home and said the truck was running funny, I took it out and noticed the CEL on again after just getting it back from the dealership a few days earlier for an erasing of the codes on its own that tell the truck to start( reprogramed keys cost $83). So now I get the codes cleared again and hit the highway, I got up to about 60 then clicked OD, it engaged with a sudden shudder then all hell broke loss, the tach went up and down the truck started to vibrate then it just died, after getting it towed to the dealership it was determined that the ECU was the culprit, they gave us a price of $980 with my discount. Wifey now says she doesnt want it anymore and it can stay at the shop for all she cares, she informs me she will not feel safe with my daughter even after it is fixed, so to make a long story longer we purchased a newer Path with 39,000 on it, it has a factory DVD player that my lil one just loves, Decormier Nissan gave us a good deal and paid off the 01, the only thing I can think of that might have helped damage the ECU was a lil leak on the passenger side that had been repaired last year, im thinkn it was still leaking a lil bit and the moisture took its toll on the ECU, either way we know its not a common problem and we are sticking with our favorite brand, after all we own 4 Nissans so it was only natural to continue the tradition.

First off congrats on your new ride. Sorry to hear about all the trouble with the old one.

The water leak onto the ECM is not all that uncommon , what happens usually is leaves and debris get down in the evap case and plug the drain that allows the evaporator condensation to run off. It backs up into the heater box and drips directly on the ECM connector. This can be avoided by not parking under trees that contiually shed leaves and small twigs, or covering at least the grille in front of the windsheild when you do park under them. Its not as common on the pathfinder as it is the max but I have seen a couple. Keep that in mind if you park outside. I would hate to see you go through this again.

Enjoy the ride!!
