Hi, i parked on a hill and I pull the Handbreak when I was coming out of the parking i forgot the break was on, i heard clicking sounds then realized it was up, so question is, can damage be done by doing this?

shouldn't be a problem, just as long as you don't do it all the time.

lol nah did it once, I let my foot go off the breaks and the car wasnt moving, I thought it was because of the hill or my wheel was on a pot hole or something, so I hit the gas and I hear sound, then it was time i realized what I had done, but its nothing against waht I did today, i was turning near a curb and scraped my hubcaps real hard on the curb. Im happy though the hubcaps are ugly. time to get rid of them.

Ya I did that by accident too, good thing it was the dealer's car when I test drove it. :D lol

One thing I noticed with the handbreak is that pulling up is easy but when I'm on a hill and I want to disengage it then it's kinda hard. Pressing the button to release it is difficult. Anyone else find this?

So what is this "break" system you all have on the car, and what does it do?

I don't know about you, but I only have BRAKES on my car.

Sigh . . . Spelling just doesn't seem to matter anymore!! Even though I work in technology and love the ease of communication, I'm afraid the art of writing is on the decline. The nuns that taught me in grade school are rolling in their graves!!

Lift it up a little then push the button.

EV the hand brake or e-brake is the little lever in the below your center arm rest.

It is commonly used to hold a vehicle in place on a hill with the car in park or in first gear with the vehicle off to keep the brakes locked on the back wheels. Also you can used it while making really sharp corners to help with the rear of you car rotating around a corner at a high rate of speed, Like at rally races.

Boy I'd check snopes.com on that one!

Was in England and rented a car for a couple of weeks -- you'd think if that were the case [GRAMMAR ALERT: that's the way it is supposed to be said/written!] I'd have been told. And that the friends I visited would have done so when they drove.

EV: keep on being spelling-man -- bugged me too but I didn't want to say anything [must be the English major in me coming out]

I can't tell if that's a sarcastic response playing off of mine, or if you honestly think I don't know what a brake is.

But the point of my post was to point out to everyone who posted before me, who spelled it BREAK, that they were misspelling it.

They also put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car and drive on the wrong side of the road.

English was always my worst subject. Probably a bit of personal rebellion, as both of my parents are English teachers.

Though my parents weren't english lit types, i hated english classes in school. I have never been one to be told what to read and/or write. Anyway, it wasn't until I learned a second language and studied its grammar that I finally began to really understand/master English grammar.

My parents HATE trying to drive any car that I've engaged the parking brake on. I apparently do my best Conan the Barbarian impression every time I engage it. My mom can't even disengage the brake by pulling up on the handle a little because I pull it so tight.

In our state, a student driver who fails either the "back around the corner" maneuver or parallel parking is supposed to automatically fail the test.

I failed both tests. I still got my license.

Don't let me back up around you... I will probably hit you. Hehehe
