I see you put new drive belts on...what about timing belt? If that breaks you will bend valves and that is really expensive. just a little heads up

well, i havent so far because it was spotless. this engine is in excellent shape. showing no noticeable wear. turbo had no shaft play at all.

but the real reason is because ive never done timing before. doest anyone know a less tricky way to do it the fsm doesnt give me any clarity? any tips for a noob? good/bad timing lights?

Lets see do it before you put it in the car. Do you have a fsm if so then just follow that. If you have a full gasket kit then put the front seals on.

Its in the FSM. Both cams have a timing marker and so does the crank pulley. Download the fsm.

timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley, water pump and maybe oil pump. common replaced items before you put into engine bay. Necessity items otherwise in a few miles you'll find out what fails.

yeah i cant wait to get it in thats for sure. at this point i probably wont be driving it until 09 cause snow is just around the corner. i drove it winter of 06 with the ka this car loves getting stuck in the snow. cant even imagine with a bigger motor.

yup got the vlsd from a 180sx, and had some snow tires, but i also got a six puck ceramic and a aluminum drive shaft so give some take some, the reason i said it ain't going to be two hard for me cuz my power prob wont come on til like 4 or 5 so drive in the lower rpm range and ill be slow haha unfortunatly i don't got the z32 hubs on so no bigger tires then stock but i want to get some high grade tires fer the stockies, going for that high way racin so i need better tires

Just a little info that might help someone. If you wanna use the r32 crossmember and not have to trim your hood or beat the tranny tunnel than use hockey puck mounts. I just threaded about a 6 inch piece of all thread through a hockey puck and couldnt be happier. It actually rides really well and they are strong as hell. Besides it looks badass when your motor sits so low. I had the stock mounts before and i can honestly say that i wouldnt go back to em. Your swap is lookin good too. Cant wait to see it finished. Good luck man

The car is like an inch off the ground. Its like a lowrider snowplow
