Thank you very much i appreciate that! She is EXACTLY how i wanted her to turn out. The 240 will undergo a much much lower stance and i plan to bring out the best in it. In more of a professional privately owned kinda way<<< makes sense to me ha ha.

I am sorry to disappoint but that ENTIRE list will not be done by the end of December.

There has been some issues going on in the family so money is kinda tight. So i am trying to help out with the bills and food. Also need to pay for next semester due to me doing early registration. NO worries though guys i and someone else who's identity will stay secret till completed are working on something:

+"Top Secret"+ As i would like to call it. That i think should make up for the lack of an update.

I have ONE new thing and that is my 180sx headliner. I will post pics of it tomorrow seeing as how some of you are anxious, Which is cool because it lets me know SOMEONE is actually watching and hoping to see something new in my build.

So for tomorrow i will post pics of the Headliner, nothing special but its an Update.ALSO if it starts eating me up inside which it already is. I will let yawl in on my lil Top Secret project. I am hoping i will be the FIRST "S" owner to have this idea and actually implement it to their vehicle.

Again sorry for the slow updates guys. With Time i PROMISE to build an outstanding car.

But yes, All of that on the list SHOULD be completed by march.

Just Stick with me.

One Love,

Ghasty

Well as i promised a small update!

Sure it is late, BUT IT IS AN UPDATE!

To start things off sorry for the pictures being so dark.

This is my Headliner as it came in the mail.

Why would i order a stock headliner out of a 180sx you ask? This is why.On a USDM s13 with automatic seat belts the headliner is cut slightly shorter on the sides to accommodate for the Automatic seat belt A pillar brackets. Needless to say i hate that little gap being there so i sought after a solution. Just buy a 180sx headliner. Logical thing to do right? WRONG....

Now the headliner out of the box measured up just about what i estimated right around 43 inches in order to fix the gap on both sides.

The cut for the Dome light was good. and not cracked.

Saw the holes and everything then i sat back and was like wait a minute....Now this is where i got kind of confused/frustrated because i was completely unaware that 180sx's came with a MAP LIGHT option for you guessed it, book and map reading.Well my car being a USDM s13 did not have this installed so i was like WTF now i am going to have a freaking hole there when i just bought this thing to take care of the other 2 gaps that i thought looked ugly.....

So i did some research and found out that the "map light" was also a option for USDM spec s13's and was a standard on the s13's with automatic sun/moon roofs. This made the little light bulb in my head shine very brightly and i said "Field Trip" yes i was quite loud and all alone when i said that. Grabbed my keys and went straight to the Pick-N-Pull. I love going there because you NEVER know what you are going to find and everyone walks around like junk pirates no smiles or anything so if there was some kind of space pirate junk yard/trade market thing the Pick-N-Pull is what it would be like haha. Well upon my arrival i not only made sure to put my serious face on i also ran straight to the nissan section. I FOUND A LOT OF STUFF but i could not fit any of it in my car so i only got the small things.

The little rubber things that go over your rear struts. How many people can say they still have them? They do absolutely nothing but they look clean and there were 2 so i grabbed them.

This one was an even better treat to me. It is just a dome light but it is a black dome light and the 240 it came out of had a COMPLETE set of UNTOUCHED CLEAN blue interior i am talking Dash, headliner, A B C and Trunk pillars and plastic. and SUPER CLEAN CARPET. I was like omg... i thought about taking the time to pull all of it but i figured someone else would see this as like the perfect xmas present to themselves and i did not want to pull it and then sell it either i thought it would be wrong. And for some reason my brother likes his crap brown interior so ya. I let it be.Anyways i thought the black dome light would really look good on the darker headliner.

Then i found these bad boys! i was VERY VERY happy. There are 2 different types of the casings. A 2 button and a 3 button (3 button had a switch for the sunroof )

There are also 2 different types of mounting brackets. now in the midst of hunting and cutting i decided to cut on a 240 that did not have a map light option. It had a built in bracket that was part of the body. I guess just in case someone said hey i wanna go get a map light. It is built into your car. Sorry i did not take a pic of that for an example i really did not have time.

This is what the plan is for it to look like. AFTER the headliner has been relined with what i feel needs to be a darker material to better suit my taste. Maybe even color the map light and the dome light a color to match them. Of course i will use my stock dome light to be painted and not this cool black one. Also i would like to upgrade to the LED dome light for better lighting when needed.

So yes my next update may not be anything to big.

I WOULD like some suggestions on a few things though.

Quick release steering wheel hubs. -Who has them? -Who likes them?-What brand is it?-Is it a better feeling with the steering wheel closer to you?

Next up is going to be.-Steering wheel-Try and return the pedals all back to stock.-new shifter boot-s14 seats-shifter nobAnd also decide on if i really want to remove the sound deadening crap. Is there an advantage to doing that? because I really would only like to replace it with rubberized undercoating. Do yawl think i should go ahead and just do it so i can put the interior all together?

Then come the end of December my little TOP SECRET project to really liven up the cockpit of the car should be done and i think yawl will appreciate it.

Thank you for checking out my thread.

One Love,

Ghasty

Can anyone tell me a SAFE! way to clean a headliner?

I decided to stick with the stock color of the headliner and not have it reupholstered.

So if you have CLEANED your headliner then i would greatly appreciate methods or tips.

I will post pictures of my progress before and after!

Thanks in advance.

for cleaning a headliner, i say just wipe it down, you dont really want to get it too wet because its sort of like cardboard. i took my stock one out and wiped it down and sprayed it black with duplicolor vinyl and fabric.

Thanks man! i am very nervous about trying to clean that thing. My nightmare would be for it to get super soggy and i would be out a good headliner. You think i could mist some like oxy clean on it and clean it that way?

Lol yeh same guy, I'm really in Zone 4. Its a common misconception, even people in Atlanta sometimes don't know the diff. Zone 3 is NE Atlanta and Zone 4 is NW.

Looking forward to the update

Interesting...did you noticed by chance if there was also an existing wire harness connection within the headliner for the map light unit..???

I am a little confused because i am tired but i will try to understand ^^

240sx ( hatchback ) Without map light option - Only thing required is the map light and then just cut the harness AFTER the male and female quick release. So that all you need to do is run power up to it. Also you will need to cut your own square where the map light needs to be mounted. NOW what is different is that in the roof 240s that came WITHOUT the option have a metal bracket built in that can NOT be removed. its hard to explain i am very sorry i did not take pictures. Let me know if i made sense. but to try and answer is short, No there is no existing harness located up there for an even easier installation for someone looking to upgrade.

to "dye" the headliner, heres what i did:

-headliner wasnt gross, so i just wiped a clean rag across it to pick up anything on it-got a can of "plastic bumper" paint (for restoring a dark gray/black color to oem plastic bumpers on trucks)- did about 7 or 8 light coats of the paint til the headliner was nice and dark gray-enjoyed outcome ever since. has held up great and looks oem. not stiff or crunchy or glossy

:D

hope that helps!

Another small update just to get everyone up to speed on what my plans are.

First off. I have not gotten around to cleaning the headliner yet. I have been a little busy with finals coming up and all so i have kind of spent most of my time studying.Sorry guys! i do plan to start cleaning it by Wednesday and i will document how it will be done.

Next up would be my little "Top Secret" project. Well seeing as how i am no good at keeping things secret especially when it comes to stuff that is really exciting to me, I am just going to let yawl in on it.

Now given what i have explained about my style before in other threads, I am VERY into the "Cockpit" area and designing of it, Even more so when it is tricked out to the point of expressing the Owner/Driver/Pilots Personality. "Make it yours!"

Well given that little bit of information about me here we go.

"But Ghast you don't even have a turbo let alone your SR20 yet!"A.Because i am Ghast and if you have not noticed yet i do things backwords compared to a lot of other people ^^

"What is the point in buying a turbo timer with no turbo?!"A. Because i needed the Box type before they switched over to that super small design.

"Why is it so special about that special edition?"A. It is just black. I did not want a silver one and if you did not notice i LOVE to buy hard to find stuff or limited edition stuff ( even if its not hard to find, the fact that it says it is more then enough for me ) << My problem not yours ^^

Easy setup Wiring harness.

"Who cares if it is SAE SPEC USA STANDARD"A. This one is actually discontinued so it was not HARD to find but it took some work. Would i have settled for one that read in Metric? Yes of course. Do i find it cooler that i actually found one that will read in Miles and not Kilometers?Ya i do because i am not good at converting crap.

"Oh Nooooo, Ghast why it is all going back in that box?!"A. Because it is being sent to Broadfield ( for those of you who do not know him, he is a extremely talented fabricator and does not limit ideas to just being IDEAS.) whom i am VERY excited and happy to have working on my project:hummingbird. If you have not guessed by now i guess i will just tell you haha.

1. Map light will be gutted then resurfaced or something like that.2. Custom magic will happen and the turbo timer will be mounted inside the map light casing, All while still exposing the face towards the pilot.3. Everything will still utilize the STOCK mounting points and bracket. Turbo timer harness will be extended and a quick release harness will be added to it for instances when it needs to be removed in for random reasons.

The turbo timer is a type-1 so it has more features then just being a turbo timer. Like 0-60 0-100 and 60-100 and some rpm crap and volt meter, i think a stop watch and then something to use when doing lap times. All features that will not be SUPER PRECISE or Accurate but i don't mind.

Why am i doing this you ask? I do not need map lights for one. And two i think this will help reflect my personality of loving the busy spaceship cockpit interior look ALL while maintaining a clean presence to the cabin!.

What other surprises are in store for the interior? I will let yawl know later i need to go to bed and get some rest.... Because it is Monday December 8th at 5am my time and in 15 hours exactly i will be Dancing and Grooving to Dj Tiesto LIVE! IN MY FACE!

(December 8th)

(Tiesto)

SO EXCITED!

Let me know what you think about everything so far guys!

I will let out the plans for the rest of the interior later!

One Love,

Ghasty!

I know I know I am sorry!

The reason the money has been spent in the places that it has is for MY peace of mind. I NEED to know that everything hard to find and or CUSTOM fabricated needs to be done first. The money for this whole headliner ordeal could have been put into the jar for saving for a SR20 ( there is no jar yet haha ). But that GAP is killing me! I had to take care of it and then I ran into the no map-light-unaware-map-lights-were-an-option-gotta-find-a-way-to-fill-the-gap situation.

I PROMISE after I get my Side skirts in my hands, Window visors in my hands, Steering wheel, shift knob and QR and shift boot ohhhh ohhh and some s14 Seats I PROMISE to start saving for the SR20.

The KADE on this hatch is in good condition and i would like to pull it and rebuild it when i get a SR, Then drop this engine into a coupe. Keep in mind this project does not get driven but a few minutes a month around my block because I like to keep things a secret from a local standpoint. So having an SR20 right now anyways would not really do anything for me at this point. I don't wish to unveil my project locally till she is ALL done. If everything goes according to plan ( which we all know sometimes things do not work out the way we want them to ) then by this time next year there SHOULD be a SR20 sitting around in my garage. ^^

I know I am weird...

thanks for verifying the info. I like the way my coupe's map lights look and probably find an extra unit for my 89 hatch. Good idea of having your turbo timer adapted to yours. Is going to look clean and OEM...in a good way.

Well as for the Exterior Goes i will post a few pictures of what my car will look like from the outside pretty much.

now in this picture here we see that he is using the Circuit Sports Exhaust. And it DOES fit perfectly ( well nothing is perfect ) and even with the Rear valances. So this really helped me decide what exhaust i wanted after i saw this.

That is what my car will like like ALMOST.

- I will be going bricks and not Projectors.

- I will not be adding the z32 Window covers ( they don't look bad just not my style)

- I will be choosing a different type of wheel. Those are 18" wheels? I will be going 17" So i can get a tad bit lower, but not low enough to screw my bumper to hell haha. ( if anyone knows the specs on these wheels i would greatly appreciate it if they threw that information my way. )

- And i don't know yet about the wing. After seeing it painted i kinda want the wing. I do not think at all visibility would be that great with it on though. And i don't use side mirrors i live in the rear view.

- Project: hummingbird will be Starfire Blue Pearl. it was a OEM Limited color that came on the s14's If i am not mistaken.

As far as wheels go I for now have been planning on Wedsport Tc105n's

Seeing as how they discontinued the Tc005's? i believe they were. I Loved that wheel....

That will do it for the Exterior! I think it is going to look very clean and very simple.Which is what i am going for. After all it is just an Econo-car right?

Now if any of you Photoshop wizards happen to stumble across my thread. And do not have anything better to do if you could do me the honor of taking a picture and messing with it that would be great. Change color to something close to the blue i want, Add the 105n's and just for kicks do the 005's if time permits. and minus the z32 window covers. Minus the projectors and add bricks. Winged and wingless If not i can just use my imagination lol.

Anyways i gotta go work out now. When i get back home after TIESTO i gotta sleep for my finals in the morning (how does he plan to stay up all night then take finals?i am a robot lol jk). But after all of that i will Update yawl on how the interior will be looking.

Thanks for checking out my thread guys!

One Love,

Ghasty
