Hey dudes, I recently scored ANOTHER 240.. a S14 in craptastic condition.. so far ive replaced

the entire exhaustevery suspension component, done a full tune up, White bunny 240mm clutch, rear subframe bushingsthe entire braking system (Q45 swap, with SS lines)and more that i cannot think of for now.

origionally i had intentions of turboing the car, and kinda keeping her around as a track/weekend car. But i sold my Q45, leaving me with just the 240.

I figured i would try to do something i havent seen done before. and do a true project 240 first.

Im going to convert the car to run off of Hybrid HHO gas (browns gas) and gasoline. on top of that, i will be installing a MSD 6AL, and stronger coil, with iridium plugs.

As it stands right now, I get about 380 miles to a tank.. just filled up at 13.7 gallons.. that guestimates roughly 27mpg.. My goal is to get 35mpg+ While still keeping the same power.. I figure getting almost 500 miles to a tank in a 240 will be pretty impressive.

--

But if anyone has already tried this, and failed, Or you have suggestions on some way of making a cleaner burning combustion, or more efficient, please chime in.. Id really like to see what can be done with this idea.

Sweet, I've been looking at the HHO process for quite some time. Interesting story how the process was invented, but I digress. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Just in the theory stage.. But from the research i have been doing.. heres what i come to conclude.

Using HHO gas, it acts like "nitrous" as far as just being injected into the intake manifold vacuum.. Assuming the O2 sensor will sense the higher AFR's it will decrease pulse width, letting the engine run 14.7:1 without using as much fuel.. Thats the theory..

Now the setup i will be creating Im going to run a 10-12 cell HHO generator, with a liquid storage tank. more than likely mounted under hood by the intake, or by the battery... I may just remove/relocate the carbon canister, and fasten it in there..

Then i figure the MSD 6al / blaster coil / and irridium plugs should definatly help with a stronger spark, cleaner combustion....

The interesting thing about HHO gas is that some people who run it and gasoline actually decrease emissions enough, that they dont need a catalytic convertor..

The HHO convertor will resemble

and will be hooked up similar to this, please excuse the garbage diagram, My laptop doesnt have any image editing software yet..

As far as rims and tires go, I do run 225/50/16 on my Q45 rims (on the 240), they fit perfectly, no rubbing, and they stay inflated to 33 psi F/R.. i find the handling funner, and still stays grippy.. My car is stiff as heck with AGX's, Megan adjustable front and rear suspension arms (caster rod / RUCA / rear toe) and aluminum subframe bushings..

Any other suggestions guys?

Wow. This is a really good idea. I am now in research mode trying to find out about HHO. Now i really want an old tiny car to turn into my own smart car electric or otherwise. (HondaN600, Fiat 500, Mini Cooper, etc.)

I acctually installed one of these in a customer's car. it works awesome. he paid about $600 for the unit and everything. you can make one for much cheaper. it works pretty good. it was actually very easy to install. they do come in many sizes and is really interesting. i am slowly working on building one as well. (i do have alot of other things to do as well.) you could build one as small al to fit in the front bumper. if you set it up right and get into a crash you don't have to worry about water geting into the motor.

Chaluska do it. it's awesome. good luck. it's not too bad. like i said i installed one, it's pretty easy.

Sick got any pics? and why haven't i heard of this before?

What all is required to build one? Do I have to tune my car way different?

like i said, i do not believe any additional tuning should be necessary, due to the O2 sensor and ECU taking care of it for you....

i built one using stainless steel switch plate covers, but so far have only bench tested it. it DOES produce highly flammable gas, so don't let anyone tell you it won't work. people are RAPING for the plans and kits, you can build one for under $30, depending on what materials you use for the anode/electrode.

Small update, I went ahead and ordered a MSD-5200 box (just for multi-spark), as well as a blaster SS coil. should be coming in within a week or so.

MSD-5 box was recieved, and pre-wired.. just waiting for summit's stuff to be delivered (resister, power tower, blaster SS, and wire)..

Once i get that wired up, Im going to have to decide what kind of HHO generator i want to make.... how many cells.. how much amperage ill need.. If i should drill and tap a fitting into the intake manifold, or just run it through the vaccum line..

*crosses fingers* 50 MPG here i come!!!

if you manage to get 50 mpg in your 240, there is not way you are getting away without doing a writeup... thatd be rediculous...

interesting, although i read it wont work with a MAF, only a MAP sensor?

just did a few searches online... let us know how it turns out

i have no idea how any of this works ...i will be reading up though it is real interesting . But id assume if you were to tap the intake for this hho after the maf I dont think the maf will be affected, the only time it will read it is thru the o2 sensor.
