Well I got to go to countries where it's nice a warm all day and night long about 114F , and they like to shoot at you if you don't worship the cow. And especially if your wearing cammies ...

Dude, I can't wait to see the next project you build after having some hands on experience on the last one!I bet it's gonna be some MacGyver s**t that has something to do with a paperclip, some bubble gum, and a tube sock!

Naw, seriously.. You got to try something else man. I would definitely build the motor to be bulletproof first though. Then you can throw almost whatever you want at it!

Right now I'm preparing to put the 25 in the 240. It'll end up running a gt3071r, injectors and megasquirt, tuned to about 325whp.

The real upcoming project is the J30 track car we're planning. 450whp of VH45 goodness, possibly a z33 6 speed, full suspension, stripped and caged. Full out road race car...

i just read through this entire thread, and it wasn't until i get to the end that i see you're in Loveland! I live in Denver, and have been trying to find any worthwhile 240 in this state with little luck, there's a couple S14s but no 13s yet. Are there any worthwhile meet ups in CO? I'd love to see the 25 when you get it done. And if you should randomly hear of any 240s goin for sale in CO, i'd appreciate a heads up!

UPDATE INTERNAL ENGINE PICS!!!!

The block:

A cylinder wall:

The head:

So basically, here's the deal.

The KA has gained my respect immensely. This is a 250k mi engine, harshly abused. When I got it the PO had trashed the guides and the chain was in the pan, in like 3 pieces. There are clearly visible marks on the tops of the pistons from contact with open valves. Notwithstanding, this thing held up to some major abuse (12 psi) while road racing with basically 0 management and minor ( FMU only) fuel mods. The head gasket was perfectly intact. There is no evidence whatsoever of detonation in the cylinders. There is very little ridge at the tops of the cylinders, even with the high mileage and the fact that when I got it there was a ton of coolant in the pan due to the timing chain wearing through the cover into the water jacket.

Just thought I'd give you guys a final update on this project. We're doing a major cleaning in the shop today so we figured now was the time to zip it apart and take some pics. The engine will be going in the dumpster shortly... The majority of the turbo setup is still for sale (even as cheap as it is... ).

Well done my friend!

After about 180k on my motor, I had the same light ridge at the top of my cylinder walls. The best thing about it, was that the factory cross hatch marks in the cylinders were still visible!

Good luck with your future endeavors!

Wow, that is one hell of a motor. Now we know why people buy imports. 12psi and no management and 250K - wow.

Ok, I'll run down this quickly but it should be pretty close.

Turbo: T25 should be about $200 in good shape, T28's will be more.

Manifold: Parts to modify approx. $25. I have made a couple for ppl at $125 per.

Downpipe: Approx. $30 depending on exactly how you do it.

Intercooler and piping: Get an eghey kit for approx. $120 and do some minor mods.

Turbo oil lines: $50-$150 depending on your quality standards.

8:1 FMU: Cheap ones are about $100 new, $50-70 use

That should be pretty much it. Wouldn't hurt to throw some colder plugs in, figure $25 for that or so...

Total then is something like $600 if you do the fabricating yourself and get decent oil lines and a new FMU and go with a SR T25.

The ka-t is long gone, but the thread popped back up in my "recent topics" list so I figured I might as well answer the questions...

why not? might as well have some fun with it. Just beat the hell out of it because it doesnt matter if it blows.

I would add to that list to take a few degrees out of the distributor to help prevent detonitation. (spelling?)
