I just got the gt28r installed and running today. It IS wastgated, at 5psi for now. It's running well, but I do kind of miss the super fast spool of that tiny turbo . I'll get some more under hood shots soon, it's raining right now.

I just made that out of 4 small slightly angled pieces of 1/8 plate steel.

Funny, I would think that the spool would be more or less the same on a T28 as a T25, since the compressor is not much heavier. WERD!

Here's a current pic with the new gt28r installed.

As you can see, I actually went to the trouble to fab a intake this time, with the bov installed and recirculated and a pcv system port.

I really am going to do a real world breakdown of the cost for this setup, I just haven't had time...

I'm going to be selling everything in a month or so, so it will be available.

*Quick Update*

I did manage to melt down the poor 'ol KA out at Miller Motorsports Park this past weekend, on the road track, at 12psi .

I'll get back to this thread soon with more info!

that is a WICKED tease. How did you "Melt" it? throw a rod, blow ring lands..... literally "melt" it? PICS!12 psi would put your fuel pressure pretty high.

Yeah, you can't do that to us. Well, it was still really neat while it lasted.

I feel as though "melted" is a key word here... maybe something to do with the PVC piping, getting all up in there?

Video would be nice.

Nope, wasn't any of the internal rotating parts that went. Out of all the things to go bad, this was the "best" option. Personally I think he's a puss if he doesn't fix it and boost it again...

The first time he took her out on the track it overheated and a plug wire caught fire. The car was steadily increasing boost by itself as every lap went by.

Aaron left to go get a scuba certification but let Greg take the car around the track for a few hot laps. Greg is the one that "blew up" the motor.

How's that?

Bummer. So is Greg putting a new motor in it, LOL. So I am guessing that it just blew a ring land?

Sorry for the cliff hanger guys lol. I'm on a bit of a European tour right now, so I've been kinda busy.

Basically I think that the majority of damage to the engine was due to plain overheating. It blew the upper radiator hose on the back stretch of lap 7 and that's when I finally stopped, and found the burning plug wire . Pretty much I think the heat resulting from the incredibly lean situation was just too much for a 250k motor. It still runs, but it's tight enough that the starter can barely turn it and it won't idle. I'll tear it down when I get it out and take some pics of the internals for you all. I really think that with some 370's it would have run happily at 12psi, and kicked it good at the track. When I saw the boost beginning to creep I thought "I should pit and fix that", but since I didn't really care about the engine, I just kept it rolling!

Well, I assume it is blown, but it's not super bad, and really probably due to me overheating it. Greg let us thrash the G, so I have no hard feelings .

Nope, northern front range. About 1 hr north of Denver.

I am parting it out. My buddy Ed says he may want it, so he has first dibs. If you want, I have another manifold laying around I can do up for you.
