When I first got my car (04 coupe) I assumed I h ad been getting awful milage getting about 200 miles a tank. so I took it to dealer and they gave me a b.s. 28 point check that had nothing to do with the fuel system at all. From there I took it to the nissan dealer I bought it from . I had them clean out the fuel system where they reported an unusual amount of carbon buildup for it's age. I was then told to fill up and drive a to find better milage which didnt seem to improve. Ever since i bought this car the pump hasn't let me put in more than 14 gallons of gas in when im on the bar before Empty. Most of the time when I fill up the bar goes as high as right below Full. Not including the last time I got gas 2-3 time before that the pump cut me off when the gauge was right above Half- full ..

Has anyone else had a problem like this or have any advice?

Are you saying you are having problems filling up the tank completely?

If so then you may have an issue with the valve sensor in the neck of the tank. This has ocurred occasionally on the '05 coupes and happened to me. The replaced my whole gas tank and that alleviated the problem but this was before they knew about the sensor issue. Have the dealer look at that.

I am not certain but I doubt that it is a gauge issue. It is more of an issue with the sensor that tells the tank when it is full or in your case when it thinks it is full and in actuality it is only half full.

Like I say I hope I understand what your asking correctly. If not then sorry.

My 04 g35 is doing the samething but i think it's just the gauge that is f@#$ up because i'll fill it up so i know it has 20 gallons in it and then i run it till a little past E and then i go fill up again and it will only take 14. to 16.point something gallons. This Tuesday I'm getting an oil change and i'll have them check it. i'll let you guys known what they tell me

I thought the schrader valve only used on tires. I guess not.Well we always learn something. So I assume it woks the same way as works on tires but with fuel. I like it. Was that the problem with your fuel consumption G whizz? I'd read your post 3 pages back, you had terrible gasmilage and you needed help.

alright so I went by the Nissan Dealer today (When I went to infinity they were no help at all about my fuel problem by giving me a B.S. 28 pnt check and Recommended $800+ 60K mile service) I was told by nissan that it would be about $175 Parts & Labor to Replace the Sending unit and rings in the tank.

Does that sound about right?

I still haven't had the opportunity to the recommended "Road Test" to gauge my fuel consumption.

I promise you all that I will post what happened when I do it.

I really don't think the Schrader valve has anything to do with it...but it was under Warranty and free so I had them change it anyways
