Your not to bright are you? You bought a brand spanking new turbo its called a Warranty, if there are problems with the brand spanking new turbo obviously use the warranty that comes with it. If it didnt come with a warranty looks like it aint spanking new. Contact the place you bought it from see what they say, if no results occur contact Garrett. Hopefully you didnt open it up yet and do the rebuild cause thats void of warranty.

^Did you read the post from above??

Waranty is now out of the question because of the metal debris from the SSautocrap intake manifold that got into the turbine and damaged the wheel and the shaft.

what sucks that its completely possible that is was from the manifold and not shop error. i have had to run the deburr tool on few of the SS manifolds do to slag. we tell our customers up front when they bring in a SS turbo kit that we will not offer any type of waranty on any of the work if its a result of crap products they purchased outside of us. i have a guy that just put over 3K into a short block with us and he now wants to put on a SS auto turbo. im going to feel horrible if it falls apart and eats up thousands worth of machine work. ive tried to talk to him about a quality turbo like PTE or garrett, but he doesnt want to spend the on it.

Now when and if his car does break the turbo and grenades the motor who is he more likely to blaim ? my shop or his cheap turbo? most likely the shop so we inturn get a bad rep when its not even our fault. we try to keep our reputation good by fixing our mistakes its the best thing we can do.

try getting ahold of the garrett people that check out your turbo, find out if it was maybe a nut or somthing that got into the manifold.

The shop says it will costs CDN$900 to rebuild the turbo, which is only $100 cheaper than a brand new one!!

This is BS. I think they should be responsible for this as well.

Refuse to work on his car.

People need to learn that you can't go cheap on your car - all it will do is cause you to spend thousands more after the cheap **** fails.

This is what I was going to say. We refuse work all the time at the pools store that I work at. We keep a history on people, and if we have problems with them, we just don't work for them. AFAIK, there's no law saying you can't do that, as long as you're not descriminating based on religion/sex/race/ect.

Exactly. When I was serving, we had a customer who was yelling and screaming in the resturant about his food and the manager told him to leave or that he would call the police and have him removed. The guy said that he was full of **** and that the couldn't kick him out. So the police came and escorted the man out. You shoulda seen the look of suprise on the guys face when they walked in....

So I was waken up by a early phone call at 7am by somebody from SSautochrome. In responding to the dispute I posted regarding my blown turbo.

They blamed EVERYTHING to the installer, they said its the mechanic's resonsibility to make sure there is no debris inside the manifold prior to install.

He then made an analogy: if you buy an aftermarket header, something fell out of it during driving, then you loose control and hit a pedestrian, who's fault would that be?

At this point, I was really mad and even though I was still asleep. I started flaming at him and told him how much time and money I had gone through in this issue. He was being very unfriendly and not willing to help at all. I swear this is the worst customer service I have ever had in my life. We flamed for about 20mins, he's now gonna talk to his boss and see what they could do.

I hope you get this resolved and that ssautochrome take responsability!!!

After your post i checked out my manifold, and noticed all these rought ends inside. So far i have filed down some rought welds, and taken out about 4 good size peices of loose metal.

It looks alright now AFTER some 5-6 hours of filing and smoothening.

today my customer with the SSA turbo came in as i was rebuilding his whole turbo kit since it didnt fit at all!, he was pretty disapointed that he spent all that money just for me to have to charge him for everything over again and labor at 50$ per hour, and it took me a good 2 hours to make the down pipe and wastegate dump tube lol.

i have him seriously rethinking the turbo. hopefully he will be buying a new turbo from us. i looked over his manifold and it was actually cleaned up really well compared to my t28 manifold.

my SSauto manifold is pretty decent. i have been running it for about 5000 miles now and haven't had a thing go wrong.

but if they're manifold caused this, i believe they are more than responsible for your turbo.

welp just had a customer come in on friday with a SSautocrap manifold he bought from a neighboring shop ( i sold the shop the manifold) it cracked at the t3 flange and the turbo completely fell off. hes comming in to get a new manifold made this week. the only good thing about these manifolds is that when they break i can sell them a new one or one that wont break.
