I found this when going across myspace...

http://vids.myspace.com/index....10093

I don't see how it could win when there's about a 100hp difference, right?

if the 1.8 is stock then no it wont win. but if its chipped out and/or upgraded turbo then its a different story.

Yeah, my friend got an 02 GTI 1.8T and chipped it along with another mod or two and he was at around 280hp I think so that's why I think that video has to be something similar.

that 1.8 is by no means stock you can hear the blowoff valve and im pretty sure that unless he upgrade the turbo or piping the stock vw doesnt have a blowoff valve

The 1.8T is a quick car, I had one.

2001 1.8T GTI. chipped, DV, mounts, intake = 14.3 1/4 and 191whp. the car is geared very well also.

if u hear a blow off valve they have upgraded turbos because u cant put blow offs on stock german cars, the turbos are different then japs.

u can put on a DV but, they just sound like a very small whistle no *woosh* noise.i used to own a 1.8t as well, those little cars haul a**! i loved it! when the turbo kicks in, chipped with few mods they are little champs!

but its a vw, and idk about other peoples cars, but mine has a s*** load problems at only 30k miles so i got rid of it for a 350z and now my A/C

I own both a 3.5 A/C and 1.8T GTI currently.

like everyone said, if the VW is stock, the 3.5 wins everytime

Might have made a difference it the a/c was a M/T or CVT. Also I highly doubt that VW is stock...

SOME 1.8T's ( AWW, AWP) will take the HKS and not go into limp mode. My old roommate had the HKS ssqv with a custom tune ( stock turbo) and his ran fine, as well as few other guys I know. But your right most will not run with it. My AWW did not like it, but I ran a reversed DiverterValve with a tighter spring and it still made quite the chirp

if there's a blowoff valve (cant turn it up, its late) then its not stock.my buddy has a 1.8t and i can take him off the line in my 2.5s.. if thats a 3.5 then that VW is modded for sure.

i wasnt saying it was for sure i just said it had them and i think those are 3.5 rims if im not mistaken they look to big to be a 2.5's also foggys even though a lot of 2.5's have em but just add's on to the possibilityand this by no means was a blow out it almost looks like the coupe was coming back and this bring me back to my idea 270hp turboed is faster then 270 n/a so if this car was putting anywhere near that much to the crank well there is your outcomethe coupe looked like a cvt(no change in power delivery)
