Hey all,The 92 "shell" I bought was basically stripped of all power steering stuff when I bought it, among other things. I recently completed my CA install and was wondering what all I need for the power steering. I have the pump and resevoir, but I don't have any of the lines and I can't find a good diagram in the FSM. I know there is the pressure hose that goes from the pump to the rack and another hose going from the pump to the resevoir(standard hose held on by clamps, right?), both of which I can buy from a parts store, but I am wondering what the hard lines are that I need and where I might be able get them. Any pics or diagrams or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You need DOHC S13 ones. Check eBay, as SR guys use them as well. Also, check out this auction...everything you need:

FYI the high pressure hose from the pump to the rack is $70-$90 ALONE from a parts store. I had to replace mine once.

damnit, someone just bought it out from under me while I was trying to remember my login thanks for the link anyways....I found a pressure hose for like $50 at a parts store, but its the hard lines that I don't think anyone sells.

Power steering is over-rated.

make your own lines... find out the fitting size. The auto store sells steel hydraulic line (with fittings) in multilength sections. Just get a tubing bender, flare too, and cutter and you are good to go. I made my own brake lines on my old car for like $30 total investment.

You guys are too hard core LOL. I pulled the PS on my FC and it was too much. A nice manual rack would be optimal. I have been looking for some racks to try out, mostly old Datsun and Nissan hardbody pickup ones, but I have had other needs that have come first.

haha, while I agree you can't beat the responsiveness and feel of a manual rack, I do not have one, and this car is going to be daily driven and drifted, both of which I want power steering for. The 12/10 spring rates are enough uncomfortable-ness for daily driving... :P

I like the way my s13 feels without powersteering. It is basically a manual rack with power assist.

I also have 12/10 setup and drive it almost everyday. Let me tell you that you can definately tell which roads are paved well around here.

I just recently got my powersteering pump installed. And let me tell you i LOVE powersteering haha. I went to a drifting event without it and almost broke my thumbs off, and was sore from so much steering work, not to mention parallel parking sucked haha. Now it feels like the car is easier to control, especially with one hand.

I also have 12/10 kg spring rates and you can sure feel every little bump! I think i can even feel when i run over an ant!! (exagerating lol) But ive gotten used to it.

Hit the junk yards and get the powersteering lines off of a 92+ 240sx (ka24de). You wont regret it!
