hey guys my 1972 620 has power brakes that i want off. i have disconnected the booster and plugged the port but i need a new master cylinder as it is leaking. i was going to go ahead and remove the booster and get rid of it but i noticed the way the master cylinder mounts to the firewall in comparision to how the booster mounts to the firewall seems to be differnt. the master cylinder is the same for with and without power brakes trucks. any one know if i unbolt the booster is there is another set of bolt holes for the master cylinder to bolt up or if the firewall would have to be modified to remove the power brake booster?

No there is not another set of holes you have to keep the booster unless you drill holes and manufacture new brake rods and all that.

Do you have a death wish or what, with out the booster the truck will be very hard to stop.  unless you have a very strong right leg.  had a 57 with out power brakes and it sucked to get stoped at high speeds.

I would recommend replacing the master with a non boosted unit and fabricating a plate to bolt up in place of the booster mount that will allow the master to bolt on to it...might have a problem with the rod length though...
