For the past week, starting the Maxima requires the clutch to be slammed against the firewall. The problem seems to get worse each day. It acts like the Clutch Interlock Switch is failing.

When I search my usual parts source for Clutch Interlock Switch I don't get a match to get a part number.

Will a clutch interlock switch for a 96 I30 manual transmission work on a 95 Maxima?

If it requires a dealer OEM part, I think I can buy Infiniti parts for less than it costs to buy a Nissan part.

I would think 95-96 would be interchangeable.

Today I received a new clutch interlock switch. The problem was definately the clutch interlock switch failing to function. Once I started installing the switch, I found the plastic bumper had disentegrated. So the switch was not being set when the clutch pedal was pushed down.

To fix the problem I made a quick trip to the hardware store to get a nylon bolt and nut combination to fill the bumper hole.

The new switch and bumper are working great.
