I recently completed a swap on my z32. I put another vg30 na engine in. I got it running, took it to the local nissan dealership and had them look it over. after telling me that the o2 sensors were bad as well as the ptm (or whatever the ign chip on the front is called) as well as three of the coil packs. I spent the next two weeks replacing all of that. now the car refuses to idle and wil rarely idle when it is warm. it was running amazingly till today when I went and re-checked all of the vacuum hoses for the tenth time (no joke) I re-did some of the fittings on the intake manifold with plumbers tape to ensure that they were not leaking. I also dropped a ton of money that I do not have replacing the cat's and putting a Greddy exhaust on it.
so now that I played with the vacuum hoses (all of which were plugged in the right place before I started the car again) I start it and it still has the same idle problem. so I figure I'll just play with the air idle control valve when I get to school and adjust the screw. so as I am starting to drive everything is acting normal till all of a sudden about half way through first gear the car bogs down hardcore and I lose all power and speed, and it doesn't respond when the accelerator is floored. but it went through second gear just fine. so after quite a few slow slow starts the problem seems to go away and only happen occasionally.
well tonight on a quick grocery run the problem returns with a hardcore vengence. it started losing power in all gears not listening to the throttle, and slowing me way way down almost causing a wreck. :wtf2:
anyways sorry about the super long story time here. I need help! I have no idea what could possibly be wrong and I am seriously at my witts end. if you have any insights on this problem please respond to this post. the more experience you have with these cars the better. I want to know what is causing me to suddenly and at random lose power and why the car refuses to stay idleing. I even tightened the throttle cable up pretty good that's probably the only reason it idles some of the time when it is warm (at about 1500 to 2000 RPM's)
anyways thanks in advance :bowrofl:

has the car ever run right since the swap? Is this a "low miles JDM engine"? any work doen to the engine before instalation?

you said you have rechecked the vac lines 10 times, are you sure you got the cop's attached to the right leads? how about the aicv clips? on they on right? 2 of the connectors are the same thining ti's vtc and O2, crossing them can cause some wierd issues

assuming all the wiring and connectors are on right the next step woud be to check for codes

I found a disconnected vacuum line that I must have unplugged when I was giving everything a look over. so that got rid of the random loss of power from the car. but I still have no idle in the thing. it is a low mileage jdm swap. I went through everything when I got it and replace the spark plugs and coil packs, as well as the oil pump and timing belt. as well as some more stuff. (it sucks to do all that outside in a tarp shack all through the winter...)
I am pretty sure that the electrical plug on the AICV are in the right place, but I guess I could try switching them to see if that helps it. I tested the throttle position sensor yesterday and got a good reading on that. then my buddy checked for codes in the self diagnostic mode of the ecu and said he got a code 14 which is the speed sensor. I checked that and it seems to be operating as it should. I re-checked for codes today and got a code 55 and from what I have read that means that the system is fine.
I also took the throttle screw out of the AICV and sprayed some throttle cleaner in their because a guy who worked on nissans for years said that they get dirty and that doing that helps. I then let the AICV dry all the way before I put the screw back in.
is there anything else I should try?
the car ran really strong for a while till I replaced both of the o2 sensors with brand new ones, cause the dealership told me that they were bad. :bowrofl:

if the O2 sensors were bad you'd have a code, you did the timing belt, you positive you got it on right? it can be tricky to get all 5 dots on their marks and it's important that thedots ont he belts match the dots on the gears, the ones on the backing plates and oil pump housing are only approximate
