What’s the difference? I’ve looked up both but can’t find a definition. The pictures I've found of each pretty much look the same.

The only ture Cold air intake system is the first one pictured. The second picture is the Nismo Cold Air intake system which I have. I know what you mean, I was also confused when I was shopping for my intake. The Nismo does get sufficient cold air from the bumper. If you open your hood while your engine is started you can actually feel the air coming from the bumper. If you decide to go for the Injen (first pictured) make sure you get two of these:because I dont think they come in the Injen kit. This will prevent water from getting sucked up through the intake. Since the major difference between these kits are the placement of the airfilters. the Nismo is behind the bumper and the Injen has them inside your bumper, closer to the ground. I would recomend sticking with Intake systems that sit high of the ground. If you do go with the Injen please give us your opinion. The Injen will be a POS to install.

Not much difference...only the amount of $$$$$ spent.

For the money, performance, sound & looks I prefer the JWT Pop-charger w/heat shield. You can buy it here cheap! http://www.nissanztrader.comhere's mine:

I believe pop charger is the JWT brans name for a cone air filter, a cold ait intake implies taht it takes air from outside the eingine compartment where the air would be colder

The JWT Pop-charger is a very efficient air intake system. It also provides gains similiar to higher priced CAI's & set's in the normal position in the engine bay just like the OEM plus delivers a nice growl sound too!

The CAI's that are designed to drop down in the engine toward the ground run the possibility of ingesting water during bad weather causing problems.

The JWT filter can be re-cleaned & oiled but follow the cleaning directions very closely....you do not want to over oil the filter.

The heat shield, which helps the air velocity is great too....keeping heat away from the AC lines!

Thanks for the info. I'm not getting one...at least no time soon. I just enjoy learning about our cars and the cool things we can do to improve them.

Pop charger: Heat shield and Cone (filter). The downside is heat soak. Hot air from the engine bay getting into the intake. CAI: Long tube that usually relocates the cone farther away from the engine bay, low to the ground to utilize colder, denser air. The downside is the possibility of sucking water in. Nismo and AEM are equipped with an air bypass valve to prevent this. Hydrolock occurs when water is sucked through the intake and into the combustion chamber causing the engine to seize.
